Default Could anyone give me a point on installing these two parts?

I have two spare parts that I wish to replace on my SC4, but I have no idea who I can take off the older parts.

1. Antenna nut: It can be easily seen but I have no idea how to remove it using conventional tools. Any ideas? The part number is 86396-50010.

2. Flasher: This little unit is a bit tricky. It's supposed to cure the lightening quick flash problem I have on my SC4 after swapping to 96' tail lights. It's a little sensor and the part number is 81980-12070. Does anyone know how to locate this part and how I can replace it?

Thanks in advance.

Jon

Jon,

There are a couple of guys here in Australia that have converted their 91~93 tails to later model ones, what most of them did is fit a resistor to the blinkers (wherever it's getting the signal from), so it stops the hyper blinker (lol) and the warning message on the dash.

There are a lot of easier ways of taking care of the hyper blinker. Either wire in another bulb (search, you will find the thread) or wire is a resistor with the same resistance that the light bulb produces, and the problem will go away.

on the #1: do you mean the nut that holds the antenna from the outside? the one with 4 small notches on it?

on the #2: what mteele said

The nut with 4 small notches on it can be removed by using a pair of needle-nosed pliers (wrap the tips in tape so you do not scratch the nut). With the antenna lowered, hold the pliers vertically and dig the tips onto 2 opposite notches. Hold the pliers steady and rotate.

Don't slip- your paint job is mere millimeters away.

Thanks for the tips guys. I appreciate it.

Soarer_25GTT, mteele, and vredniykot: Very good ideas about having either an extra bulb or resister installed. The reason why I didn't go with such route is that I have this flasher/sensor thingy handy and thought I could just replace it with the old one to fix the problem..... Perhaps locating this item is harder than it seems?

PerryinLA: Thanks! That's the exact item I was referring to. Should I watch out for the antenna assembly falling off on me while I take out the nut? Or is it simply a screw/unscrew procedure?

the flasher relay is located in your drivers side kick panel just above the fuses
there is also a lamp failure sensor that is located in the antenna area, i dont know which one you are after

and if you undo the antenna top nut there should also be one from inside the trunk holding it down also

and when i upgraded to 95 tails i was told by various people who tackled this thing, wiring in an extra bulb is simplest way
i was told switching flashers dont work and resistors build up too much heat and will blow and are expensive

Thanks again!

I think it's the flasher relay that's located in the driver side kick panel.

Do you know if I need to take the panel apart to gain access to the flasher?

LOL.. okay

In that case, just leave an extra bulb hanging in the trunk then?
