question on installing sub on 98 GS
i have a 98 GS.. with navi... the speakers are fine with me.. i just want to replace the sub with a better on... i was told i can get a RCA converter and hook it up to the speaker wires... im just wondering if i can disconnect the speaker wire thats connected to the factory one, hook up the RCA converter. and hook up the amp from there?... then the remote wire to where? and would i be able to control the sub from my reciever/navi?
diconnect the wire from the stock subwoofer and then wire in the RCA converter. You can wire the remote turn on to the power antenna wire. Once you have the new sub and amp in...the only way to "independently" tune the sub for bass is by the amp. If you turn up or down the bass from the headunit, you are turning up/down the bass in the whole car.
adjusting the bass from the head unit will adjust the bass in the whole car including the amp/sub? or just the in car speakers? is there anyway to have a adjuster from the aftermarket amp/sub in the head unit or up in front?
If you adjust the bass on the built in EQ on the OEM headunit you will get the change in all the speakers. You should consider getting an amp that has a remote gain controller so you can have the control **** of the bass up on front. Some amps that have that are JL Audio, Orion, and Rockford Fosgate and many others.
