Head unit too wide for ES300 stereo assembly, need input..
I just got a 98 ES300 - I wanted to put my Empeg in (head unit that fits in a sled, whole unit is removable) so the sled is just /slightly/ larger than ISO DIN standards.
Has anyone else had to deal with a wide head unit bending your metal stereo caddy (or assembly or whatever) to fit? I can wedge it into the metal frame but it won't screw into the dash properly, cause it's shape is weird. I could bend things, but they probalby won't line up..
I realize there's no 'fix' to that, but I'd like to see what others experiences are or if anyone has input. I.E could I should I bother to get some sheet metal and bend and drill my own metal cage?
Also, if anyone can recommend brands for a dash kit for a OEM head unit, please let me know
thanks
