JL audio IB4 sub install using OEM Bracket!
I just finished my install of the JL audio IB4 10" sub....using the OEM bracket it too a while to figure out how to do it...i will post pics as soon as possible....im not sure if any one has used the OEM bracket...at least my searches didnt find someone...
After removing the SUB...make sure you carefully remove the OEM plugs...you will need them later...At first look the sub looks to be mounted/glued to the frame...from what i understand lexus makes it so you have a hard time putting replacement items in their fittings..anyhow you have to damage the sub and rip the cone out. Once you have taken all parts of the cone from the bracket..you are still left with the magnet..this was the hardest part....after a few quick bangs against something solid the magnet will start to shift and you will start to see the gap move further. Once you have a large enough gap use a wedge or a screw drive to force the magnet off...I had to go around the magnet in a circular motion to get it off. Now once the magnet is off the sub still will not fit...here is the hard part the 4 metal sides of the bracket which go from the top of the bracket to the magnet are weak and flimsy...they will crack with a few swift hits...when i broke one they all came off. Now i had the top portion of the bracket and the speaker drop in perfectly...dont forget to add the foam, and a little silicone or glue. Once you have the speaker in place...simply wire the OEM plugs into the 2 prongs on the speaker (+) should match up with the wire with a strip..
This solution should help those people who were hitting the gas tanks and did not want to build a enclosure for their subs.
Pics are coming later...

I made my own bracket out of wood in my LS.. I'll post pics soon, the results turned out pretty good. I used rubber foam, about 1" of it underneath the spacer so that way when I bolted the entire sub and spacer down it would seal as tightly as possible without using silicone. The advantage to using wood was that I could secure the sub to the bracket/spacer using all 8 screws.
