And everything works. The GPS receiver (smaller than a PC mouse) is on order.

DAmn thats nice. I wish I had your brains to do that. If you dont mind me asking about how much did it all cost? If I have a old PC it can be done too? Can you get a bigger touchscreen?

Id say give or take around $1500 or so, It all depends on the PC parts you get, that price is kinda high compared to what your getting in terms of PC specs. the parts he got are made for carPC[small, low on power] For example the motherboard is around $200 bucks its only like 6" x 6", compare that to a regular PC motherboard, a good one can be around $80 bucks but the size is huge and very high on power

You can set up a carPC with "house" size PC parts , can prob. fit in the trunk....but power will be a BIG issue but it can be done and will be alot less, I build PCs and something like that can cost you around $200-$500[depends on specs you want]

You can get a bigger TS, I believe they make a 8" , but I dont think it would fit in the GS dash

if you have any more questions let me know

The Lexus screen that we see... Functional? Did the software come with the touch screen with that menu system and then just tweaked for the Logo?

Yes the menu system is very functional. That screen is just a regular computer moniter, just that its only 7" and has touchscreen. The software can be run on ANY computer running windows, you can put it on your home PC just to test out, only difference is that you would be using your mouse rather than the TS

as for the software, the people over at mp3car.com devople it for free, there are about 5-6 different ones and new ones coming out all the time
look through this thread I posted some pics of the different software
check out
mp3car
this is the software section over at mp3car, lots of info therer

as far as the lexus logo, thats just a skin, can be skinned anyway you want
want would be cool is that we can skin the program to look like the lexus factory buttons

Thanks for the info. Do you have a DIY for this? I am a computer guy and would love to do this stuff but after going to the mp3car site it seems like it will take too much of my little bit of free time I have just to research everything. So can you hook up your fellow Lex members with some documentation, pics, parts list... ???

Good work man. I have a friend who did something like this in a Corvette, the only issue that I could see is cooling? Do you have any fans in there, or just assuming there will be enough circulation?
