nice, but what is the mounting depth you can clear with an aftermarket sub? 5" ? Anyone successful in replacing the stock with a JL sub?

edit-
ahhh i meant aftermarket sub, not speakers. I got 6.5" Alpine Type Rs going into the SC around the end of next week along with some other goodies like JVC KD-NX5000 HU :/
So yea, i meant what is the mounting depth on the sub to clear the gas tank

I put 6.5" reference speakers in the place of the stock 4 inchers in the back... I had mistakenly though they were 6.5 and was too lazy to return them. Good choice cuz its so much better. They are sitting on top of a half inch tall bracket made out of wood though as that was most convenient to use to mount them.

I found a Kenwood sub that should work for replacement enclosure...
Anybody have previous experience with this sub?

143mm = 5.62 inches might be too deep to clear the gas tank, but dont quote me on that

If so, maybe some MDF board? To help clear it...

Does anybody have any suggestions for this?

Yes. I replaced my stock sub with a JL IB4 10". Roughly 3/4" thickness was needed to clear the fuel sending unit on the tank.

Yeah IB4s work well in the SC. I don't think any of the W1s or W3s fit though. I ordered a eD SQ10 a few days ago....it only has 3" mounting depth and should be able to go in the stock position fine. *fingers crossed*

Wow, nice addition Teal SC400!!!

Hey guys,
How do those free-air subs sound?? If you had to do it all again, would you go free-air or something in the trunk?

they're great, but the tradeoff is they aren't as powerful as I may have wanted...although they do sound better than the stock sub
