Default NO SOUND 2002 ES300 Mark Levinson

Hi everyone,

I have a 2002 Lexus ES300 with the Mark Levinson sound system and I’m having issues with no sound at all from any of the speakers.
  • With the original head unit → no sound.
  • I installed a new aftermarket head unit → it powers on fine, but still no sound.
  • I’m not sure if I wired everything correctly or if I need a specific harness. I watched a few YouTube videos but I’m still confused.
  • I already bought a replacement Mark Levinson amplifier just in case, since I’ve seen a lot of people say the amp can fail.

My questions:
  1. Do I need a wiring harness to connect the new head unit properly to the factory Mark Levinson amp?
  2. Which wires should be connected from the new head unit to make the system work (especially the amp turn-on)?
Any advice, wiring diagrams, or harness recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

You need a special wiring harness. The standard one won't work with the Mark Levinson amp.

Get a harness designed for this, like an Axxess AX-LOC-PRO. It converts the signals so the factory amp understands them. This harness will also handle turning the amp on correctly.

Your wiring is the most likely problem. Install the correct harness before trying the replacement amplifier.

I purchased AXXESS Metra TYTO-01 but nothing fits. Do I need to splice it into the original amp wires?
