Default KP40 vs V1

Recently went too this high end car electronics place and the guy totally recommended the KP40 and said it is better than the V1. Only thing is he was charging almost $1500 for everything. First, whats the word on the KP40 and is it better than the V1?

DGT,

I don't know about that model of K-40 specifically, but I have both a K-40 and Valentine and have run them on at the same time. The V1 is my choice, the K-40 (which came in my car when I bought it) stays turned off.

Do a search for K-40 and you'll find several threads with more comparison info.

Default K-40 vs V-1

Yeah and the alarm the dealer installs is best one you can buy too. Don't do it man it's all about marketing and marking up. Go V-1 you will not be disappointed.

If you are talking about the K-40 vs V1, I'm with Dave. I've used both and there's really no comparison between those two. The V1 totally dominates everything about it.

At $1500 though, I suspect that the detector you may be referring to is a stealth version of the K-40 similar to the Escort SR7. If so, you will not have better reception still...just a cleaner install. The SR7 is kinda neat though because it has a laser shifter that can be added and that may help a lot. It's still well over $1k and to me I can buy a remote display for the V1 and flush mount it somewhere and have better reception and about $1k to spare.

Just my opinion.
