Polk db6500 & db650's Installed :)

Hey CL,

I installed my speakers over the weekend and they sound great. I still need to install the amp and an EQ but IMO, it sounds 1,000 times better than the Nakamichi speakers that were previously installed. Anyone interested in buying the Nakamichi midrange, crossovers, and tweeters let me know soon; they'll be on eBay next week.

I had to place foan around the OUTSIDE of the woofer because the excusion would touch the door frame and distort. I learned the hard way and had to uninstall the front doors again to fix the disortion in low bass.

I documented the process for anyone looking to do the same, just PM me and I'll email you the PDF.

Excuse the photo quality, these were taken indoors at night.

speakers

i'm looking to upgrade my 99gs400 stock stereo sound. would those speakers fit without cutting up the door panels, and about how much would they cost? would they work with the rest of the pioneer components or would i need more stuff? thanks for any advice ivan

Hey 3dog.

Q.) Would those speakers fit without cutting up the door panels?
A.) Yes, but I did have to cut the plastic case that holds them. Send me your email address and I'll send you the complete process as a PDF file.

Q.) About how much would they cost?
A1.) PolkAudio db650, $199.00
http://www.crutchfield.com/S-x3FckFU...sp?i=107DB6500

A2.) PolkAudio db650, $99.00
http://www.crutchfield.com/cgi-bin/S...7DB650&g=52000

I bought both on eBay BRAND NEW, from the same warehouse, for $188.00 with shipping. It took a while to get here but now that they are installed they sound GREAT. But they need an amp to sound their best..

Q.) Would they work with the rest of the pioneer components or would i need more stuff?
A.) They'll work just fine. Just use the same wire that is already running to the Pioneer's. I don't know if the Pioneer system has an amp and/or where it is located. Either way, the answer to your question is YES, they'll work. They just might not sound as great until there is more power running to them. PM me and I'll walk you through it if you like.

Thanks for any advice ivan
No problem :)

Thanks Hameed :D

Hey:eek2: That's EXACTLY the set I have (for the fronts) If you're considering doing the same, let me know. Also, if you are going to do front and rear, try to get them from the same seller and you can consolidate shipping cost. I was able to get them shipped for 17.00 versus 34.00.

I am receiving pretty good feedback from people wanting to do the same so I think I'm going to take the time and post the whole process here on CL. Maybe this weekend.

Hameed, I still haven't mounted my sub in the trunk, did you ever get yours in?

EDIT: Here is the link to the ACTUAL AUCTION that I bought mine from. Can't beat this price anywhere and the seller was very professional.

Looking forward to it!

I just bought a second sub JL Audio 10W3 V2 D2 off ebay for a steal - $100 plus $30 shipping. It retails for about $150.00 elsewhere! As soon as I get it, hopefully next week, I will have both subs and the JBL 1200.1 mono amp installed the week after. I will have a custom enclosure built for the subs in the trunk. Should rock my brains to death with those subs!!!! :D
