Default Question regarding clear bra and or ceramic coating for structural blue

I want to do something to protect the new lc500 in the structural blue color. I have heard from some folks that say no way as per lexus on the clear bra for this color as it would take away from the paint. I am open for suggestions regarding the protection of the entire front end of the car.

Thank you
Mark

Never drive it. LOL.

It’s a car, it will get chips, clear film or not.

yea but it will block 90% of the ones that do chip it. Youll have some chips but at least it wont look sandblasted

Talk to a local installer and mention your concerns about the color distortion with this special paint. They should even test install a small piece so to see if it really does distort.

As a side note - the structural blue is delivered to the dealer with a different type of paint protection film for shipping. I wonder why?

Default Clear bra

Planning on having suntek installed next week to my infrared LC. The only decision is should I just do the front end or the whole car? Not sure about the structural blue color, but from what I’ve seen, suntek makes little difference to appearance. (Transparency)
May be different for the blue color due to the makeup of paint.

The 3M clear bra from Lexus doesn’t provide much protection, I’ll be removing that upon installation of suntek.

I have to agree with Timbo on this. Any film you cover the paint with will detract from the beauty of the paint - which is kinda why you chose this color. Unless you never drive it, it will sustain chips, film or not. Yes, films will reduce some of the nicks and chips from road debris, but perhaps at the cost of altering the allure of the finish. I think - drive it and enjoy it. After a few years, the imperfections will add up either way. Then, there will be some other shiny, new toy to consider.

With 3M Pro Series, you can add an optional service agreement that GUARANTEES against paint damage up to $3,500 per incident. Yep, 3M will pay to remove the film, repair the painted surface and replace the film.

What did you end up doing?

I just put a deposit down for a 2021 Convertible Inspiration Series with this color and was planning on full clear PPF over a ceramic coating.

You can't put PPF over ceramic. It won't stick. The ceramic goes on top of the PPF.

Default Coating

On my LC500 I covered the entire car. It was Infared. Looked just as good with car completely covered. All my Ferrari's have been covered with film. In fact my one Ferrari had the optional paint which was 13k additional. Put film on it and still looked beautiful. Cover the entire car

I had film on my last Ferrari, too. It was TdF Blu And looked great!

But many Lexus dealers do not recommend film on THIS particulate color due to its properties.

Which triple layer paint did you have on your F? I have Been searching for a Bianco Fuji Cali T for months!!!
