Default Godron Ting / Beyond Marketing's LC at SEMA

Is it me or the Godron Ting LC look very similar to the LC-F here?

Indeed it does. Not much of an update however, if that's all there is to it.

The LC-F is supposed to have a 3.5L twin turbo V6 pushing north of 660HP. Heres another pic of the Gordons version.

Default Gordon Ting / Beyond Marketing's LC at SEMA

I know this isn't about the RCF but I just wanted to show you guys something I found online. This is the LC designed by Gordon Ting and Beyond Marketing for SEMA 2017 but it looks oddly close to what the LC-F that was posted in this japanese magazine. I guess the LC-F is supposed to have a 3.5L Twin Turbo V6 with over 660HP.... Thoughts anyone??? I

I know everyone suspects an LC-F would share the same LS500 powerplant (V6 Twin Turbo), but I've been thinking it should be a V8 twin turbo. The LC really should be faster than an LS sedan, right? The problem/challenge is - maintaining (or improving) the 54/46 weight distribution... The added weight of a twin turbo would likely make that weight ratio worse (front-end would be heavier). So... this issue may indeed drive the decision to go with a lighter V6.

What does "tuned engine" mean? Does it make more than stock HP?

Edit - did some searching - not sure this car has the same engine mods, though:
https://www.topspeed.com/cars/lexus/...-ar175064.html
"This is where the Lexus LC 500’s program really makes a name for itself because Gordon Ting/Beyond Marketing put in a lot of work to get the power of the V-8 engine to 525 horsepower and 440 pound-feet of torque. The first thing it did, with the help of Club DSPORT and F1 engine builder Magnus Ohlaker, was increase the engine’s displacement from the stock 5.0 liters to 5.6 liters. The cylinder bore was also enlarged from 3.7 inches to 3.9 inches to accommodate the bigger engine displacement. Custom Moly-2000 Amphibian sleeves from LA Sleeve and Carrillo 4340 H-beam connecting rods finish off the upgrades to the now larger 5.6-liter V-8, resulting in the aforementioned power increase that’s 58 ponies and 49 pound-feet of torque more than the standard output of 467 horsepower and 391 pound-feet of torque. The 525-horsepower and 440-pound-feet of torque numbers are pretty sweet for the LC 500, but here’s the rub: Lexus says that the modified engine is actually good for over 900 horsepower so there’s really no telling what kind of output it can have if the people behind it squeezed every ounce of power it could out of that engine."

Good find but it doesn't:

Who would cut a $100,000 car to put a widebody kit on it? Gordon Ting did with his LC 500 but instead of making a tasteless and over-the-top show car, he created something that a sensible adult would enjoy driving.

Many, many fans of Toyota were disappointed that the Toyota Supra did not make an appearance at the Tokyo Motor Show, but we did get a chance to take a look at a high-performance luxury coupe that really reminds us of what a new Supra could be: Gordon Ting’s Lexus LC 500 here at SEMA 2017. Though, talking to Gordon, he really didn’t approach this build to create or recreate the FT-1 but make a better LC 500. One that handles, looks good, and is comfortable to drive anywhere he wants to go.

The stance is set by the KW Suspension V3 coilovers, pretty much the standard of performance coilovers around the world. However, it features the Hydraulic Lift System (HLS), a system originally designed for DTM cars as a solution to balance aerodynamics. For DTM, the car would be raised so that they could get through sections that required additional height and drop the car for high-speed sections. However, it’s used on Gordon’s car as a solution to get it over speedbumps, driveways, and trailers.

The Brakes are Brembo GT Brakes with custom coloring to match the Supreme Satin Carmine Red wrap. The front brakes are six-piston units with a 405mm by 34mm Type 3 rotors while the rear is a four-piston with a 380mm by 28mm Type 3. These are just barely covered by a set of Volk Racing G25 22-inch forged wheels with a Matte Black finish. The Pirelli P-Zero Nero GT tires provide the rubber to meet the needs of road handling.

The engine hasn’t been touched, so it’s the same 2UR-GSE as you get from the factory in the nearly $100,000 vehicle. However, a GReddy Racing Supreme SP Exhaust System does make it sound better than stock and possibly pick up a horsepower or three over the 471-horsepower it came with from Lexus. The 10-speed transmission has also not been modified but with so many choices in gear selection for the ECU, it probably doesn’t need any additional work. The Sparco SPX Carbon Fiber Adjustable Race Seats replace the factory units but keep with the theme of a performance street car that the LC 500 is supposed to be.

Body Built:

Underneath that Avery Denison Supreme Satin Carmine Red wrap laid down by Daily Visual is an Artisan Spirits Aero Kit with a five-piece carbon fiber lip kit with a Voltex Racing custom carbon GT Spoiler. The fenders are a set of custom made pieces from Evasive Motorsports. While the body doesn’t show it, there are bolts holding those fenders on, they are just strategically placed to hide them from view. On a car like a GT86, Gordon admits exposed rivets and bolts can look good on a widebody car. However, the prestige and expense involved with the LC 500 dictates that a cleaner, more refined look was required and is why he and his Beyond Marketing team choose that route.

While this car is an evolution of the LC500 that he debuted at SEMA last year, however it’s not getting pushed into the realm of track car. At least Gordon doesn’t have any plans to go that far with the build at this moment. It is rather hard to justify cutting any further into a car that is already nearly $100,000 as well as creating a car that would be difficult to drive, too. So, we probably won’t see this car end up as a full race car or even a car that would be better suited on the track even as it drives on the street. This is a grown-up driver’s car that can be driven daily.

Why would someone do this to a $100,000 Lexus LC 500? Because they can but this one has class. It’s a low, wide, yet comfortable high-performance luxury coupe that can be driven daily – even over most speed bumps. The exterior parts selected and created are all refined and classy enough to not distract too much from the original car’s lines. The satin red gives a sporty look without looking too out of place. Gordon Ting has created a widebody car that most adults would be willing to be seen in rather than the wild and crazy creations we normally see here at the SEMA Show.

As SEMA ages past its 50 year mark, will we start to see more “adult” builds like this in future shows?
