Porsche cancels the warranty if you use anything other than that...
VW got in trouble years ago when they demanded the use of their official VW oil filter
rather than a Fram or other aftermarket filter. Verdict was that to insist on a specific
maintenance product would require the manufacturer to supply that item...for free!
VW engines apparently had much higher oil pressure than most cars and the filters
that the aftermarket made to fit the threads just had the same case and internals as
regular pressure cars.

Search through the forum. It's well documented here, as is the TSB fix that many of us have completed with happy results.

While reviewing the manual I noticed that the LC500h uses 0W20 weight oil. I wonder if the dealer got cornfused?

I called Lexus and they said 0W20 was OK with my LC500, and that it was synthetic oil, but they still recommend keeping to the 6-month service interval. They claimed the reason for that is to be sure that things were OK and that the engine was not using excess oil. I don't claim to be a mechanic, and I do plan on 6-month services, but if the main reason is to be sure the engine is not using excess oil, I believe I'm capable of reading a dipstick!

High performance engines have a tendency to use oil...meaning that in between oil changes you have to periodically check the oil level.
I have had a couple of Vettes that used Mobil 1 synthetic oil. I got into the habit of checking oil levels every 300 miles or so, and from time to time, I had to top off the oil before changes. I plan to do the same with this engine.
I learned to do this when one time I was in a long trip in the country and I had an engine light come on telling me I had low oil pressure or something like that and when I checked, I needed a quart. I was scared ! I said, not ever again...
Take care !

An interesting video concerning synthetic oils. This fella has some very interesting videos concerning automotive engineering. A bit geeky at times but very informative.
