Why didn't you get light weight wheels, Eg. HRE?

Nice car though but with it's weight, I would go with some lighties!

LOL. Lightweight wheels would be a waste of money. You put them on an already light car, not on a behemoth the the LC.

Unless you're talking about a huge SUV or an Abrams tank, dropping weight is always a good thing, IMO.

You can find a quality set of lightweight forged 20's in the ~20 lb range or so. Cast can be up to 30 lbs easily. That's only ~40 lbs (a little less than 1% of the car's weight) but what kind and where the weight is lost also makes a big difference.

Weight lost at at the extremities = less polar moment of inertia. It enables the car to rotate easier. (Remember spinning on a stool in science class and then bringing your arms in closer to your body?)

Reducing rotational mass is also beneficial. Replace a dual mass flywheel with a single mass that's 10 lbs lighter. You'll notice the difference. Besides less torque/hp required to rotate the lighter wheels, there's less mass to accelerate longitudinally.

So, shedding some wheel weight is beneficial to acceleration/braking and rotating/handling (not to mention slight gains in MPG, brake/tire wear, etc.)

The only downsides are usually cost and fewer style choices.

I'm sure the LC 500 can benefit from light weight wheels. If you can afford it i'm sure you can afford HRE wheels (P101s) which are very expensive. Custom made to fit your car and 21s are around 23lbs which is 10 lbs lighter than what you have now.

Distant dream for me unfortunately

Congrats on the purchase! It's cool to see a young guy with an LC. The new wheels look great too.

Do you have any other mods planned for the car?

Feel you on this one. I worked hard and sacrificed a lot to be in a good position compared to 5-years ago. No secrets here, just acquired good job skills and made good financial choices.

My dealer has a white one in the showroom with similar black spoke aftermarket wheels on it. They really pop on a white car. I didn't notice the brand but they couldn't have been too expensive as the total sticker price was <$100K.
