Default Complete PPF and ceramic coat

Enough time has passed on the new paint on the front bumper so I dropped the car off for the PPF.

After discussion I decided to do the whole car.

I was quoted $8k.

I only did the front 1/2 plus A Pillar then ceramic everything outside including wheels, calipers, and glass. Xpel. Had I done a full Xpel PPF plus Xpel Ceramic it would have been $5600 in Alabama.

8k seems very expensive for PPF. my wrap was only 10k canadian, or 7k american and its much more labor intensive than a PPF wrap considering they had to disassemble a lot of trim pieces, take off bumpers, etc.

Usual PPF wrap is only 3-4k around here

They have to remove a partial PPF from the hood and front fenders the previous owner did.

I don't understand why anyone would do a partial on this.

One of my current cars has a full ppf and in hindsight I think it was a waste of money. My next car I'm only going to do the front end and possibly lower sides. This is where most cars get rock chips and what not.

My full Xpel wrap with ceramic coating, cost $6000 CDN total. This included ceramic coating the wheels and tires. It came with a lifetime warranty on installation and materials.

I got concerned with how much those "Kardashian" hips stick out in the rear, so I decided,"What the heck" and decided to do the whole car.

The installer is working on giving me a break, he did my NSX as well.

The OP's 8k price includes Ceramic coating, not just PPF. Also, yes many of us have ceramic coating on our cars, BUT they offer different protection duration packages. Meaning, you can get the 2 year, 5 year, or even 7 year Ceramic coating package. Cost goes significantly higher as you get the longer lasting packages. I'm assuming the OP got at least the 5 year protection. All that said, I was thinking in total around 6k, 7k tops. But OP, I'm not familiar with the market in your location.

10 year warranty. A full wrap is what it is $7k + ceramic coat.

Additional costs are for removing the previous partials on the hood and fenders.

Insurance is reimbursing for what it cost to wrap the front bumper.

I have my new 2023 in for full front only (including full hood), Xpel wrap, $2300 here in Texas. Getting full cabin Xpel XR+ tint for $900, and 5 year 22PLE ceramic for $1500. A little high on that but for like, a $150 per year they do a yearly maintenance on it. I shopped around and also checked out their work. Pretty similar prices at the shops down here (Austin). These guys had a Ferrari right from the dealer pre-customer delivery when I first visited and their work was flawless. Picking up the car this weekend. Pics to follow.

ppf quotes are like insurance, it varies by location. Installer skill varies big time, type of film, 8mil or 10mil, ceramic coating or not, full paint correction or not, pre-cuts, custom pre-cut or full bulk cut etc. are all factors in pricing. For a full car install in southern california (which is probably the highest in the nation), you can expect anywhere from 4500 to 16k. I just got 6 quotes throughout LA and OC to do a full body ppf/ paint correction/ ceramic coating plus wheels and calipers about a month ago, and that's the range I received.

On high end sports cars I think a front end ppf is a minimum, but full body is probably the most time saving and hassle-free in the long term. As someone who's very ocd about swirls and paint condition, I found ceramic coating doesnt prevent scratches and swirls and need a lot of care, not any less than if the car's naked. It takes a lot of time: how you wash the cars, the water you use, where you park temporarily, where you store the car, the towels and products used...etc.
