New owner, new problems
North1star,
Not based on first hand experience, but according to Safelite, they provide ADAS calibration if you get your windshield replaced. So I would think if one were to put anything over their windshield, it may be prudent to at least check with the "experts" (Lexus technical) regarding ADAS calibration. Otherwise, you may find your ADAS may not perform optimally.

update: took a few for the windshield to arrive.. I left it to do the windshield and leather all at once..
Windshield replacement cost..$2400!!!! Ill get $1900 back minus my $500 deductible.
Leather replacement..... While replacing the leather seat cover.. the installer scratched and scuffed more leather on the rear drivers side kick panel... now the dealer has to keep it until next week when he gets back and re-dyes that leather to cover that up... Jesus..tap dancing...christ...

100...You can definitely do that when you have options! But its hard for me to understand why anyone would make an LC their primary mode of transportation. This car was not built for that! It has entirely too many deficiencies to be a daily driver. So why buy this car if you need to treat it like a truck.

My Corvette is my Sunday car. I wanna enjoy driving and not going to drive my Venza around town unless it's snowing, or a complete downpour or going to Home Depot. So, otherwise, its the LC to the rescue.
I drove my SC430 for 150K miles, took me 18 years to get there. Why not enjoy the car, the engine will go 300K plus miles. And you know what, in 20 years, I can just repaint the car if needed. Not a big deal.
Damnnnn RJ…..It’s been a while since I posted that! But it doesn’t sound like you really disagree with what I said. You’ve got 4 cars. I happen to have had the opportunity to speak to some insiders at Lexus and they told me that the average LC owner has 2.3 cars. And that they not did expect this car to be driven everyday….And you know what…..I believed him! We know we could but we don't. (References Upon Request.)

Most here would laugh at me getting the 10/100 Platinum extended warranty for my LC. I'd be willing to bet you I keep mine long enough to pay for that $3300. If not, in those 7 remaining years, I will have Definitely gotten $3300 worth of piece of mind.
Maybe I'll get tired of my SGM in 5 years. Maybe by then "vinyl wrap" will have evolved to spray on, be even more durable and take a Day to put on for 1/3 the money.
My Walmart car is my late Mom's 2018 CRV. For it's intended purposes, possible the finest vehicle on earth.

You do you brother ! 3300 for a piece of mind is nothing. I hope you’ll never have to use it, but I’m pretty sure all the parts on this low volume LC will cost us an arm and an leg if anything ever goes wrong.
savage geese said the doors are 10k each and the trunk lid is also around that price. So I don’t think your crazy at all. Likely be the smartest guy here.

The SC320 was not bad in the winter if it had snow tires. But, it was my everyday car. My Corvette was my Sunday car. And I didn't yet own the Venza, so that's what I drove. I really don't like driving a "regular" car if I don't have to.
I was seriously thinking about the LS500 and it would be my everyday car. But, the LC was just to beautiful to pass up for not that much more money. So, I'm going to drive it like I stole it. I just turned 60 yesterday, who am I saving it for. it's my last new car...... when my son inherits it he can store it, sell it or paint it, I don't care which

i'd love to drive my lc everyday but i can't because i need room for carrying stuff for my business. plus i don't want to look like i'm doing THAT well at clients.

just because they did not expect average LC owners to drive it everyday doesn't mean someone shouldn't. you do you and let others do it their way, how's that? people have different needs, resources, wants, preferences, tolerances, and that's all ok.

.......goes without sayin!
My 2018 LC coupe is my only car (my gf has a nice camry too that we use for longer trips, groceries, etc). But this thing is built to drive and the only problems I have are rock chips (Dr color chip works excellently for those if you take your time, tape off a small area, etc) and the brake dust that comes with a squeal. I'm a pilot so it spends a lot of time in a covered lot (around other owners I can usually trust). I expect this thing to go to 150k miles before I even consider trading it in....and if I don't, a re-paint might be in its future....
Ceramic coating is the best thing I can recommend for it. I wash it bi-weekly or more (Florida) and it keeps it as pristine as I can keep it given my circumstances. I'd love to have a daily to take on the hiway and park at work but that just isn't practical. Like a fine expensive whiskey, I feel like this is something to be enjoyed and slowly consumed.
That said, anything with a supercar name at a higher price point would definitely require a beater, so this is a perfect way to have a beautiful daily "whip" without the need for another car... But to each their own!
As rare as this car is, it's an absolute pleasure to drive and receive the compliments that I do! Sometimes my neighbors ask why I'm "washing a clean car"... If only everyone had our standards!
Keep it nice for all of us... Other than the TouchPad, this might be one of the best vehicles ever!
