Default Custom Drive Mode

I cannot get a grasp of what this means.
Can I customize this drive mode somehow? Does my car remember my driving 'style' and change things in Custom Mode somehow?
My local dealership staff doesn't seem to understand.
Is Custom Mode like Normal Mode but with a few differences? Maybe it's like Sport and Sport+.
Someone please explain.
Thanks in advance friends.

Custom mode allows you to adjust certain settings to your preference.
Normal mode/Custom mode
Normal mode and custom mode are selected by pressing the driving mode select switch. Each time the switch is pressed, the driving mode changes between normal mode and custom mode. When custom mode is selected, the “Custom” indicator comes on.

Press the switch to change the driving mode to normal mode when not in normal mode.

• Custom mode

Allows you to drive with the power train, chassis and air conditioning system func- tions set to your preferred settings. Custom mode settings can only be changed on the drive mode customization display of the Center Display. (→P.237)

Resurrecting this older thread for the following question: is there a setting so that the vehicle starts up with the last drive mode setting - or does it always default to NORMAL on start up no matter what? Thanks.

Mine will start in Comfort.
What's 'Eco'?

Yes, I'd love it if there was a way for it to start up in Custom each time, rather than me having to remember to change it.

I was told that I order to put the mpg on the sticker, the car had to start in the normal mode or better (eco). Basically the sticker has to list the worst mpg that the car has the capability of starting in.

According to the owner's manual, page 209:

Automatic deactivation of sport mode and custom mode
If the engine switch <power switch> is turned off after driving in sport mode or custom mode, the drive mode will be changed to normal mode.

Yes, that's correct as far as it goes. If car was in sport, sport + or custom, it will change to normal when shut off. However, if it was in comfort or eco, it will remain in that mode when shut off.

That's too bad -- but thanks for the clarification.

Am I to assume that Sport+ is not customizable, and that the drivetrain is set to maximize performance in this mode, while Custom enables the driver to specifically select what performance elements they want to use?

Even in asking this, I generally feel like a lot of this car is just not intuitive, and items in the infotainment screen lack explanation. I mean, the name of the drive mode is "Customize". Wat? "Custom" would have been the better word choice there. And don't get me started on the little blue squares in Eco mode that make no sense either.

that sounds right.

well 'customize' is the act of changing custom mode settings, but the mode itself is called custom (pressing the 'horn' button in to switch).

this video is for the LS but same as LC.
