This is from the "for whatever it's worth" thoughts. I concur with many of the comments on this thread for time required to update the rear view camera and multi-meter going blank software, I agree, a 3 1/2 hr wait... why? BUT the tech told me that these display boards and the software that drives them to "overwrite data on the chipset" which causes them to fail, and eventually go blank? The overwriting process damages the chipset so that eventually they WILL fail, so that convinced me to get this done. I don't know if I believe this, but on other computers, over-writing buffers on chips will in the long run cause data errors, so maybe? I don't use or have activated the Lexus/Toyota Connect App thru my phone, hence I don't have access to the vehicles navigation, security, and maintenance app software in the car. Read the Lexus data disclosure release... I don't want Lexus selling my phone conversations, contacts, pictures from the camera in & around the car, driving info, location, speed, etc to 3rd parties... this is the "deal with the devil" for the app access the customer strikes with Toyota/Lexus, which I would like. Also I'm not certain if not using the Lexus Connect features also stops the OTA update functionality? I've already likely given my data to Apple and Google... I don't want Lexus to have it too.
