I struggled with the decision and ended up with the convertible. I like the look of the coupe vs. top-up convertible more, but top-down convertible looks stunning. Like others have said, the open- air feel can't be beat, and sure the extra rigidity would be nice, but it's a massive, heavy car so it doesn't much matter for cruising. I will say, with the top down next to a highway barrier or in a tunnel, it is SO loud at wide open throttle that my hearing hurts afterwards. I can't believe it's stock. Top up is nice and quiet, too, I don't miss a hard top.

The one thing I will say is that top down with the windows up and the deflector in place is black magic. There is zero buffeting or wind noise, and you can have civilized conversations. I don't know how the engineers did it, but that mesh deflector is just amazing.

You made the right choice.

In my case, I have option to pick between 2021 Inspiration Series Coupe Black Obsidian with 2500 miles 84 months and 4.9% interest AND 2021 Convertible 16 miles and 2.5% interest 72 months. I like the exlusive 1 of 500, but with 2500 miles on the IS coupe, I rather buy the vert.

Being in CA (assume Cali) how could you not have a vert

The convertible is raucous. I'm not sure even with aftermarket pipes, the couple will sound as loud even with the windows down.

That said I detest softtops.

Where did you find rates that low if you don't mind sharing.

thanks for the replies. surprised all the votes for the convertible. discounts seem to be higher on the convertible, not sure if that's a function of demand or supply, making prices pretty similar

Supply. Demand and prices will be higher for the coupe long term.

I’ve owned about 15 convertibles in my life and my LC500 convertible is simply the best I’ve ever had. I’m sure the coupe is great but with the top down you get to enjoy the unfettered sounds of one of the best V8’s ever made. If you compare the Throttle House reviews of the coupe and convertible you can tell just how much more they enjoyed the top down driving experience in the vert - it’s almost impossible to beat. But if I lived up N I would give serious consideration to the coupe.

I was looking solely to buy a convertible since I no longer ride motorcycles. A coupe wasn’t a consideration for this car purchase.

I am ecstatic/really happy (not saying LOVE since it’s a machine) with the convertible.

This is also a ‘fair weather’ vehicle so whether a vert or a coupe, it would be stored for the winter (I’m in Canada). And since it’s for ‘fair weather’, why not have the option to remove the top. As soon as I take the car out, the top goes down.

Perfect 👍

I am surprise no one mentioned this. Buy the convertible over the coupe for the exclusive seat-belt straps for the backseats seat-belts. Those two little straps are totally worth the price of admission.

Coupe:

Convertible:

Humor aside, having driven both coupe and convertible, you cannot go wrong with either. I do recall the brakes on the coupe being much better (Performance pack/Dynamic Handling Package) compared to the convertible. I felt the weight more on the convertible than the coupe. Though hands down, the V8 soundtrack on the convertible with the roof down is so much better than the coupe.

They look nice indeed. Also noticed the side bolsters on the convertible have a stitching pattern, vs plain on the coupe. I prefer simple seats, but the convertible ones might look more 'upscale'.

Which one in your opinion will hold value long term better, the coupe or Convertible?

I am seriously thinking of buying one as I think they will stop production in couple years and it will become a collector car.

Well, if sales are any indication, the convertible outsells the coupe about 10 to 1 in my estimation, so you'd probably have a much broader market with a convertible IMO. I don't like convertibles, and even less soft-top ones, so I'd never consider one myself. But looking at used prices, they seem to hold their value about the same. C8s are also holding their value way better than ever before, but I don't think that's necessarily an indication of future results, but you never know. The worst hit is the Jag F-Type, which depreciate like a rock by comparison of those 2. Not sure why. I prefer the Jag over the Vette easily, but no local dealer anymore, so that's a huge detraction. And Jag is not selling gas vehicles anymore, so who knows what's going to happen with them. But it's been around even longer than the LC (since 2015, vs 2018), so it should be reliable by now too.

I have always preferred the look of the vert top up or down. Top down, really no argument it is art. Top up gives it an angular look that appeals to me. Almost turret-like, or bunker-ish. Whatever to call it, I dig it. It has less headroom front/rear but in a good way since it slims down the stout rear end. And like most have already said, top up you get damn near close to the coupe's noise insulation (i've driven both back to back). Top down its just a thrill, a fantastic experience i compare only to my snowboarding, downhill mtn biking, or crotch-rocket days. I loved being in the coupe and seriously considered it but in the end, my retired lifestyle appreciates my vert's advantages over the coupe more than its disadvantages.
