An additional note is that my shop foreman thinks that the engine ECU is turning on the EVAP vacuum pump during a cold soak EVAP test, and it will intermittently keep the vacuum pump running causing a draw on the vehicle. Granted, we have no proof of concept, but I think that is a good idea if nothing else.

My IS went in for service around 26 months. Lexus of Scottsdale did a load test-on their own initiative, didn't ask for it-maybe part of that service. Found it about to croak and replaced 100% free with a new 7 year warranty-probably prorated. Living in AZ hot temps, batteries last much less than the cooler climates.

My battery drained after 4 days in the garage. Had to boost it. My dealer found nothing several months back when I first got this issue. I 'm bringing it in later this week and I made reference to this thread. Hopefully there's more progress this time.

I have a 13 ES350 Ultimate with no mods. 4100 miles, car is 1 year old, battery died 7 times this year and again after I replaced the battery with a interstate battery. Something is draining the battery and the dealer has no clue. Lexus said they are aware of the problem and a random computer is turning on and draining the battery when its off. They offered a battery tender, I declined. Awaiting Lexus corporate for a refund or a new car. Going the lemon law route!

That's strange. I've never seen a 2013 ES with a drain issue. It is usually the 2014 IS 250/350, and the 2013/14 GS350 that has the battery drain issue.

Keep us updated!

A colleague of mine has had his battery dead once on his 9 month-old ES300h. Could be a coincidence or not...

Ps it is not the battery they changed mine and it died again they replaced my navigation and I haven't had a problem the past month but since it did not start 4 different times I simply said I want them to buy it back and they did I had my is 250 for 15 months down payment taxes everything was refunded to me expect one payment worth which was my mileage offset the whole process was less than 5 weeks and I am extremely satisfied with corporate customer service that Without a doubt I will buy my GS when my kids grow up Good luck to you all

Lexus said it is a bad ECU/ECM, they are replacing it with a different one (they had to make a new one according to Lexus), apparently they have a lot of problems with batteries dying and something randomly turning on when the car is off. Dealer said 4-6 week wait. Probably see a TSB or recall soon. They did install a battery tender in the meantime, so I could get my car back. looks promising.

UPDATE: Got my car back today after servicing the power draw issue. They stated Lexus Canada is aware of the issue and further investigating. In the interim, my dealer tested my existing battery, it was low at 368 Cold Cranking Amps, so a brand new one was installed. It likely will not address the root cause, but at least the battery they replaced appears to be a heavy duty 7 year, 575 CCA which will automatically last me longer than the boosted-twice old battery.

Can anyone check the original battery CCA rating? Just curious to know if the new battery has a larger capacity or not.

CorradoMR2, the battery in my 350 is 580 CCA. Not sure if the 250 and 350 are the same, though.

Thanks.

LOL, maybe they gave me a lower capacity one. But good point though as it's possible the 3.5L might need a little more CCAs to startup.

*sigh*

I've been following this thread and laughing at you guys living in the east. I thought to myself, it's too warm in the west coast to be a problem.

Karma bites. I left the car in the garage on Friday. The temperature dipped below 10c over the weekend. This morning the car wouldn't start. The battery is completely drained. Luckily the wife was still at home or else I wouldn't have made it into work.

I'm not even at 5,000km yet. This is just pathetic. I avoided German cars for these very same reasons.

Can you guys confirm something? Do you leave your headlights switch on "Auto" or completely off when you park your car? I went through the changes with the dealer's tech on what I made to the car before the battery drained this weekend. The only thing I could think of is that I left the lights switch on "Auto" instead of normal off when I parked the car.

I leave mine on auto. This typically means the lights turn on when I park in my garage at the end of the work day. The lights do stay on for a while. I am sure that doesn't help, but that alone should not kill the battery IMO.
