Default sunroof won't close properly

My 2006 IS250 is having issues with the sunroof closing. It was working perfectly until a few weeks ago. It closes until it hits the wind deflector and apparently it's too much resistance so it opens back up. The only way to close it is to reach up and hold the wind deflector down until it gets past that point. I have tried cleaning the track and re-applying grease and that didn't make any difference. Any thoughts? Is there a way to adjust the sensitivity on this thing?

thanks for any help!

Take a read through this thread:

I had the same thing happen to me last year and was able to get it to close following that advice.

Re-set the moonroof...the procedure is in the owners manual. This has happened to me several times, no need for a dealer visit.

Thanks all for the responses. The reset in the manual didn't do anything. They had to pull the console area open and "reset the motor". Works like a charm now!!

Glad you fixed it! My dealership reset it without opening up anything ... took like 30 seconds.

This was a while ago, but I believe they just pushed up and HELD the sunroof button (the big round one) until fully opened, then pushed up and HELD the button till it closed ...
