Default Need Pics On Where To Put The Jack

Ok so the wheels should be here today and after work I was thinking about putting them on myself. Thats the first question, shuold I do them myself or go to like Mavis and have them do it? Second If you guys think I should do it, I want to jack the car from the back center so Both rear wheels will be up. Thats what the Lexus Tech Recommended. Any pics of where to put the jack in the rear, and where on each side of the front should I raise the car? And If you don't agree about the rear where on each side in the rear should I jack. Pics Pleasee!!!!!!!

the jacking points are shown in the manual.
for the front, there is an area that is centerline with the car, and on a brace which is pretty much to rear of the oil pan. To get to this, I first had to drive it up on ramps as the jacking point is so far back from teh front. I believe the front jacking point is different on the IS250 AWD than the IS350 (I have an IS350), so make sure you confirm with the manual.

For the rear, I believe you jack up using the differential housing.

hope this helps

I would jack it up at each of the 4 points and be safe! You can do this yourself, just take your time. Make sure you have someone torque the lugs to specs also after you install!!

Cant wait to see pics

Thanks, ok I will do all four corners but where in each corner should I put it? I will be using a jack on wheels not the car jack any suggestions?

good call - dont use the jack that came with the car, I just put my summer tires on and the jack collapsed and I jammed my arm between the rear tire and the wheel well - broken bone in hand...

If you jack up the car, best to use jack stands....don't rely on the jack as mentioned above.

you will see the marks if you get down on the ground. its about a few inches behind the front rim and just before the rear rim. Check the manual if you need more info. Its pretty easy.

Um. there is an entire frame rail that goes damn near from the front of the front door to the middle part of the rear door. This is the support structure for the car. Common sense tells me that a steel support structure would suffice as a jacking point.

I got these from another thread. Good luck finding a long long low profile jack to do it with.

I just do the hockey puck method (search CL for "jack points")

i used an hydro jack with a small 2x4 wood block right next to the stock jack points. learned the hard way that the spine on the jack point is not load baring but the flat area inside it is.

use jack stands on the frame rail after you get the car up.
