since you're in socal, I would go with 35% all around if you want to be safe. anything darker on your front windows may result with a ticket. Although I do have 20% on my fronts for a year with no problems yet

The officer called for backup. Don't know why when it was only me and I have respect for officers since my uncle is an officer himself. As the backup arrive, a muscle car zooms right by with an even louder exhaust system then mine. I didn't want to say anything about that to them. I was all but respectful to those officers who pulled me over. They also checked my drop height of my car. They told me I can drop but need to make sure the middle of my headlight needs to be 22" off the ground or higher. Mine was at 21.5". They did their thing and told me I was super cool and respectful. So the officer who pulled me over handed me a fixing ticket for $10. Which mean I had to remove my muffler and install the stock on back. Also I had to readjust my drop height to exactly 22" and go down to the California Highway Patrol office and have an officer confirm my fix to sign off on it. Then went to court to pay for my ticket of $10.
This does not stop me from tinting my driver and passenger window at all since I live in CA or putting an aftermarket muffler on. I just got to make sure, my muffler or exhaust system is not loud and attracting attention. Same goes with my tint on the driver and passenger window, just got to make sure it's not too dark.
Hope this helps CA guys/gals on this forum.

hoping for some insight here.
I am in Austin, TX and looking to get my '08 is250(blk/blk) tinted. It has normal glass, not tinted glass. I've done my best in trying to shop around the local tint locations and here is what I've received.
shop a - Pinnacle F1 - 399 out the door
shop a - Llumar Ceramatrix - 299
shop b - SolarGard Ultra Performance - 319 + tax
Lexus of Austin - PermaPlate Ceramic (never heard of it / can't find any information) - 279 + tax
any help is greatly appreciated

I'm planning on getting tint for my is250 with nav.
The shop i called uses LLumar ATR film and it is a metalic film. It is $150 and lifetime warranty on everything. I was wondering has anyone used this in their is250 or other cars and had problems getting nav reception or radio reception?

I've used it in the past, It has never messed up the radio reception for me. I'm sure it wouldn't have hurt nav either (but i can't comment since i never had nav). If the extra cash isn't a problem though, go for some 3M ceramic tint. Better quality
Navigation will not be affected by any tint at least on 2007+ models since they have a sharkfin antenna to communicate with nav satellites. And I *think* the same antenna is used for the radio, too, so that reception should also not be affected by tint.
