Considering this 2012 ISF w/ rebuilt title. Car has 68,000 miles and guy is asking $26.5k (which I would likely try to negotiate). What do you all think based on the the picture of the accident?
Is this the one that’s been on FB a minute? That side impact was hard, my main concern would be whether the chassis is truly straight. For me to personally buy it, he would have to agree to let me get it on a frame rack at a body shop first. He has had it listed a long time, so he should be willing.
I agree on the chassis - even a nasty pothole can screw with the structure of this car (though this looks more like a side swipe). And am I nuts to think that price is massively high for a rebuilt title? I would've expected a little over half that price for a car like this.
edit: Just noticed too that it's got the 08 wheels in the first photo along with a wrapped/painted roof. Just thought I'd mention it.

In clean shape it would be a $42-47k car, so mid $20's for for rebuilt and fixed up isn't that crazy to me. There are clean 08's with 120k listed for higher.
I'd ask for a detail pic of the sunroof. These cars dimple the corners of the sunroof with a torsional impact, and it doesn't take that big of an impact to twist the car. Fixing that - straightening the chassis - isn't easy or cheap relatively speaking. If you want this as a forever car, it might make sense. If you expect to sell it at some point, expect severely diminished value even if it is fixed to near perfection.
Does your state require a structural inspection to register a car (for the first time, after being "rebuilt")??
If not, I'd spend the 150$ for a quick inspection at a body shop to take frame measurements & pics, also good for your own records and to have in case your insurance would require it or whatever...
It doesn't look like a horrible hit, and I hope they did it properly and replaced the FULL apron and not just straighten it out... That would be my only concern.
All else is more on the cosmetic side & I wouldn't sweat it. The top down pic (#2), the replaced fender looks like a bad paint match as it appears off a shade.
Was thinking that too. Why would a 2012 have 08 wheels on it? Something's not jiving here.
Anytime someone has a totalled car, its common to try to swap out the pricier parts with cheaper ones. I’ve seen Brembo’s get swapped for 250 brakes. Headlights, interiors, etc. The 12-14 wheels go for $2k even in curbed shape, while 08-09 wheels you can find for $650 for 4.

This. I have numerous sets of seats and wheels for 2 second gens. If one of mine ever gets totaled, its getting the least valuable seats, wheels, etc. it’s not illegal by any means to do that, as long as your returning a full car and not flat out robbing parts without replacing them. Everything would function and bolt right up.

Gotcha. I'd still like to see a VIN for this car, but what you guys are saying makes sense.
So if I'm following the pictures in chronological order, the current owner had a 2012 ISF, got into an accident, swapped in the 08 wheels, and the car was declared totaled. He then had the car repaired and put the 12s back on to sell it. Correct?

Owner likely swapped parts and let insurance have it, then next owner fixed it up. But I’m sure seller can answer this.
I had a rebuilt isf. If it's fixed right and you know what to look for it's fine imo. A lot of people are scared of them but to each their own. Cars get totalled for numerous amount of reasons some small and some big. Do your homework.

One thing to consider is a recent example on the FB forums. A guy paid $17k for a rebuilt ISF a few years back. It was damaged bad again recently and his insurance(of which he was lucky to find one to cover in first place) was only willing to pay him what he paid initially for it. Never mind that most values are up $10-15k on clean F’s and rebuilt titles as well are higher priced these days, but it doesn’t sound like insurance wanted to play ball.
