Drive it as much as I can. A little challenging with an 8 year old and a 4 year old.

Whew that’s long. Deployment? Just toss it on a trickle?

Then there's the trans getting to temp, even the exhaust getting hot enough all the way through like it would during a drive. Just my personal preference though.

However, I do see regular idling sessions for fear of bearing wear. For me there's only one "dry" start like this a season and unless there's something seriously wrong with the engines lubrication system, the oil will flow through pretty quickly. I've done my method for the last 10 years across several different cars and haven't had any issues. At the end of the day, research and just do what makes you sleep better!

Historically I've brought my cars to operating temp once a month during storage months but this is how I'm doing it now as well. I'm fanatical about maintenance and oil analyses. If we're wrong about this tactic, it might make the Toyota engine last 120 years as opposed to 140.

That's the theory anyway. As humans who love their machines we do the best we can. If you are gonna fire it up here and there while in storage, here's what I've done and what I recommend. Never let any car sit and idle. Idle for two minutes then bring the Rs up to 1500-2000 or so in intervals. Get the oil to 3 bars or 220 then park it again.

Battery tender goes on my car if it hasn't been driven in a week. Bloody hell this car trickles power when it hasn't been driven, I can't believe it. Tending a battery can make it last twice as long. I also recommend keeping your lights off when you start the car to avoid battery strain - I never understood why every car with an auto headlight setting turns on the lights before you even fire up the car. Perhaps this technique is overkill too, again I'm fanatical about longevity in all of my hardware.

lol no I'm working in Saudi Arabia and decided to ship the car to London, UK where I was brought up.

I may be shipping it to Dubai soon since I'll have a chance to drive it more there and do some nice upgrades

Trickle won't work where it's currently parked up unfortunatly.

Make sure you pull the battery. Something we haven’t discussed yet in this thread, but these cars don’t like getting to a very low charge. Some members have ended up needing a new ECU or similar parts. In another thread we considered the low voltage creating a high draw that the car didn’t seem to handle well.

Edit - it’s the Certification ECU that dies from low voltage. I thought we discovered that the part number has been updated, and maybe all cars don’t have the exact same part number, so this may not be an issue for all cars. My 2013 has completely died twice with no issues.

Yes I forgot to mention that I always disconnect the batter, and so far 2 years on and it always starts like a champ without needing a jump start

Yes, I revealed it, but it was not leaking much, there is a slight leak and now the car is in better condition after I cleaned it and sealed it

Thanks for the advice👍🏼🌹
