Default budget for a 2011+ ISF

Hi All,

I currently own an is250awd in Toronto Canada

looking to upgrade to a 2011+ F around 60K (100k KM) mileage range, stock to very minimal Mods.

Planning to make the 250 to become a winter beater and hopefully hold the F forever. (Hopefully it will become a collectable car 🙏🏼 )

I would like to see what should be my budget (I am in no rush, maybe get a great deal during Pandemic?)

I have heard from friends that Canadian Market for the Fs may be cheaper compare to the states I am not sure if it is true and I see there is a white 2012 in my area for $31000 USD with about 60000 mileage i will contact the seller but honestly refer a black one.

Let me know what you all think!

thank you!

If it’s clean, I’d move on that 12. That’s a good deal and won’t last long. The 12-14 MY will become the most collectible due to rarity and some nice upgrades, just keep all your stock parts.

I did something similar. I own an 08 is350 which is my daily. I bought a low mileage 13 ISF. I love both cars.

I think around 30-35K is about right for low mileage 11. A 12-14 will be more.

I have lost track - I thought only difference between 11 and 12-13 was the wheels and LED fogs. I think 14 added CF wing and alcanera armrest. Were there other upgrades?

'12 - '14 also has completely different switch gear on the dash. FYI - the '11 model has a unique VSC off switch. Don't ever break it, there are none to be had except from a junkyard and there aren't many of those. I ordered from every US and overseas resource, they all said discontinued, none available. I discovered this when I moved the sport button to the steering wheel and wanted the later model switch gear only to find out the only thing that could possibly work came from the '11 model only, and the '12 - '14 models have a totally different switch layout and switch type.

That's an interesting experience, unlike Lexus to be honest.

That said, I think you mean the driving mode switch, the 2IS VSC Off switch is the same for 2006-2011 and changed for 2012-2015 (moved to the other side of the steering wheel).

The switch beside the VSC Off switch is ETC Power/Snow mode for ISx50 A/T models, Sport/Snow mode for 2008-2010 IS F, and Snow mode only for 2006-2012 IS250 M/T and 2011-2014 IS F models.

If you need a replacement for a 2011 IS F snow mode switch or to move to the steering wheel mounted Sport mode switch on a 2008-2010, I would recommend ordering one for a 2006-2011 IS250 M/T, the only difference is that it says "ETCS Snow" instead of just "Snow." Part number is 84720-53070.

Alternatively, you could convert the dash to the 2012+ style switches, in which case you would need:

84720-53060 - Switch, Snow Mode
84988-48070 - Switch, VSC Off
55449-53040-C0 - Panel, Switches
90980-10789 - Connector, VSC Off Switch
82998-12340 - Terminal, VSC Off Connector (Qty: 4, Pin 1 to Pin 2, Pin 2 to Pin 1, Pin 3 to Pin 3, Pin 4 to Pin 4)

The pin sizes on the 2012 and later models are different, and the wiring would need to be extended to the other side of the steering wheel. Way too much work.

Switch I need is the VSC off switch for sure. Snow mode switch was no problem at all. The 2011 IS F VSC is 84720-53050, Switch, Pattern. It is only for VSC off, and the panel is also unique to the 2011. I originally ordered 84988-48070 - Switch, VSC Off along with the connector body to transfer the wires, but the connector body uses different pins entirely. There is zero chance of making that work without new pins, connector body, and extending the wiring. The EWD shows the same pins 2008 - 2011, but 2011 has a different pinout and a different connector body.

I ended up carefully trimming the '08 - '10 switch panel to accommodate the new Snow mode switch (it worked out OK) with the old VSC off switch. Not OEM, but works and only noticeable to a keen eye. Sadly I now own the VSC switch and the 2011 switch panel, but have no use for them and as you know, electrical returns are not entertained by most Internet retailers, even though I figured out it wouldn't work without ever removing it from the bag.

Yeah, that's why I included the pins as well as the connector housing.

The part numbers I quoted would be to keep the same switches in the same spots, not to convert the entire thing to the 2012+ style. Basically, replace the RH switch panel with the 2012+ style and get the correct VSC off and Snow mode switch that would fit into it. The Snow mode switch uses the same connector, the VSC off switch that would fit in the 2012+ style panel is a different connector with different pins. Nothing would change on the LH side.

I don't really follow or am confused. On your 2008 IS F it originally had one switch that said Sport/Snow on it and one that was for VSC off. You moved the Sport switch to the steering wheel and needed to replace the switch that said Sport/Snow with one that just says Snow. The switch panel for 2008 and 2011 is the same, as are the style of switches. It sounds like you couldn't get the 2011 Snow mode button?

There are 2 "types" of switch used on the RH side of the steering wheel in the 2IS, the 2006-2011 type and the 2012-2015 type. The switches that fit in that panel are pattern select (ETC PWR, Sport, Snow or some combination thereof, for all years), VSC off (2006-2011), and heated windshield (2012-2015). If you kept your original VSC Off switch and got a 2011 Snow mode (or 2006-2011 6MT Snow mode) switch, they would have both fit into your original panel. If you ordered a 2012+ switch panel, you would have had to get the 2012+ Snow mode button and an appropriately matching VSC Off switch, however they would have both required new connectors because they wouldn't have matched your originals and one of them would have required new pins as well.

The only switch that is 2011-specific is the snow mode switch, which is the same size and fitment as the 2008-2010 switches and fits into the same panel as the 2008-2010 Sport/Snow switch.

84720-53030 - Switch, Pattern Select (Type A Size, Sport/Snow) (2008-2010, RH Side of Steering Wheel, Connector: 90980-11986)
84720-53050 - Switch, Pattern Select (Type A Size, Snow) (2011, RH Side of Steering Wheel, Connector: 90980-11909)
84720-53060 - Switch, Pattern Select (Type B Size, Snow) (2012-2014, RH Side of Steering Wheel, Connector: 90980-11909)

84988-30140 - Switch, VSC Off (Type A Size, 2008-2011, RH Side of Steering Wheel, Connector: 90980-11950)
84988-53010 - Switch, VSC Off (Type B Size, 2012-2014, LH Side of Steering Wheel, Connector: 90980-10789)

55449-53021-C0 - Base, Switch (Type A Size, 2008-2011, RH Side of Steering Wheel, for VSC Off and Power/Snow or Snow Switches)
55449-53040-C0 - Base, Switch (Type B Size, 2012-2014, RH Side of Steering Wheel, for Heated Windshield and Snow Switches)

It sounds like you have the 2012-2014 snow mode switch fit into a trimmed 2008-2011 panel with your original VSC switch and a 2012-2014 panel with another VSC switch kicking around that uses different terminal pins. If you want something that will look OEM, find yourself a 2006-2011 IS250 6MT snow mode switch, it will directly fit into the 2008-2011 switch panel and uses the same connector as the 2011-2014 IS F snow mode switch.

Again, unless I'm completely misunderstanding what's going on here.

Buy the white one its a good price. These cars are more money in the US by about 25%. I wouldn’t hold out for the color of choice as it may never appear

i own a 2010 in Alberta with 49,000 kms

Thanks for your reply! any reason why the Fs are cheaper in Canada? I assume supply and demand?

When it is 25% cheaper, Would $30k-$37k Canadian make sense?

The suspension in 12 is also slightly different, but I forget the final difference. The wheels make a big difference. They are wider front and rear, look much better, and are very rare since only like 500 model year 12-14s made it into America (I’m not sure about Canada). A close to OEM 12-14 will hold more value, just don’t sell the wheels on the second hand market or you will lose some of that value. Those wheels alone can bring upward of 2500 if in good condition.

The shocks were changed from Tokico twin tube to ZF/Sachs monotube. The valving and spring rates were again updated for 2013.

The wheels are Lexus-specific versions of the BBS RE-V ACQ. Definitely demand more than the earlier style BBS wheels.

That 2012 white one you see listed has the sought-after red interior. Also comes with PPE headers too, which are a must for our cars. Looks like there is also a 2012 USB listed in the same area for similar asking price. My preference would go towards the blue one as it has lower KM's compared to the white one. I say either would be a good buy if pre-purchase inspections check out fine.

The rear spring rates were changed each year for MY 2011, 2012, and 2013 IIRC. Not sure which years they also changed front spring rates.

I paid 32.5k US for my 2011 Ultrasonic Blue (w/Alpine white interior) @52k miles May 2019. The pricing really depends on the color ext/in combo youre looking for. Id say 2011 is the best MY youre going to get at a relatively cheap price with the most upgrades (LSD started in 2010, LED headlights in 2011, softer suspension stared in 2011).

12-14 asks for more but honestly other than saying you have a 12-14 (which have lower production numbers) the differences are very minute (suspension tweaks, updated steering computer, slightly different infotainment system/layout.

Engine/Transmission is the exact same from 08-14

I would jump on that 2012 with the red interior for that price if it's in good shape! There were only 66 Canadian ISF's in 2012.
