TOM'S rep diffuser...(rep problems lol)

Like the saying goes, "you get what you pay for". It's not always the case but it was for me. I bought a rep WALD diffuser in a winning bid. I figure it wasn't going to be that bad but the fitment is way off. I understand that even the real ones you might need to do some light sanding to fit but mine needs a lot of custom work to the point it practically has to be refiberglassed again. Mounting holes are off and exhaust openings rub bad. I got excited and had it painted but couldn't do a test fit at first because the car was in the shop for a supposedly bad knock sensor which might not be the case.

I got to bring it back to the dealer for full diagnostic because they might have misdiagnosed it from the beginning. $800 job and the CEL came back on again for the same problem (P0328). Anyways back to the diffuser. I'm going to get it modified because the local shop is willing to work with me and does a pretty good job to where I want to get his name out. Time management is my other problem too as both the dealership and shop are more than an hour apart from each other. Other than that, just know what you're getting yourself into even if it's as small as this.

There are gaps all over the place and this replica from this seller does not have the flat boarder on the back side to provide a surface to mount tape or anything. It just just like the backside of all other types of fiberglass parts with messy resin and fibers cured together and looks rough all over. I don't have a picture of it as it's in the shop getting modded.

That is a Tom's replica diffuser, not a Wald, just FYI :)

Good luck with the adjustments needed to get that to fit properly. Hopefully it works out in the end!

Oh man I feel like an even more idiot. Lol! I got mixed up because I also recently installed a WALD rep spoiler. You are correct though. Tom's it is. I wish I could edit the title.

My rep Arkym was the exact same way. Two of the tabs on the bottom arent being used, and I had to create new holes on the very ends. In order to have a flat surface at the top, I went to Home Depot and bought a metal square-shaped rod (forgot what its actually used for) that I cut into 4 sections. I glued that to the diffuser with epoxy and the next day, mounted it with the double sided tape. Still have some gaps but not as bad as it would've been if I hadnt gotten creative.

It looks good from far, and thats all I care about. lol

I actually bought from the exact same seller and by the sounds of it my fitment may have been slightly better than yours. I used some 60 grit sandpaper to the backside to create a nice flat edge for the 3M to stick to, making sure both surfaces were extremely clean because of the fitment issues. I did have a little bit of lifting from the 3M, so I drilled four screws into it on the bottom to make sure it was at least sitting mostly flush. All of my tabs were used on the bottom.

I want a diffuser so bad (although I have RR Racing Bazooka tips on order) but it scares me how much fitment issues I read about from other F'ers.

I had a Tom’s rep also off eBay, it wasn’t a perfect fitment. I’d say 8/10 with imperfect fitment where it wasn’t noticed and I got plenty of compliments on it even from people with real ones.. I too decided against bazooka tips with the diffuser.

those gaps would easily be covered up with some molding tape https://www.ebay.com/itm/GENUINE-OEM...gAAOSwBUVZvGN2

I ordered those exact ones too as they were recommended by another owner. Depending on the gap, it may or may not get rid of it. That Honda weather striping is pretty thin.
