Default IS-F oil changes at home...

Just curious to see what people are using at home to dow their own oil changes and what suggestions they have for doing so. I finally picked up my F yesterday and excited to finally own one. Was thinking about getting some Rhino ramps but wasnt sure how durable they would be for our car.

Not sure if rhino ramps are low profile enough to work. I use race ramps and measured to make sure they would clear. I got the 2nd lowest profile option and its still a close fit. If I lower the car I will probably need extensions to clear. They are pricey but worth the piece of mind IMO.

I honestly dont think they will clear but I have some wood that I used on my old car that was lowered to help get on there. Mine is on stock suspension so that helps at least.

I use two jacks. First I use a jack at the pinch seam jacking point under the front door to bump up the car so that I can slide my bigger jack all the way under the middle of the engine cradle frame. I then jack up the whole front of the car up so that I can place jack stands under the front frame rails. It's a bit of a chore but I find it better than using ramps, although my ramps are the steal ones so I can't say how good the Rhino ramps would be.

Yeah, seeing how low the car is from stock I was wondering what are other peoples methods on getting to their rhino ramps? I get that you may need longer boards of wood depending on your driveway, garage or whatever. I can't do it in my drive way because I have a very steep inclination to get into my garage, which really is no bueno for even some regular stock height vehicles as well.

I do what Newgsman does in post #5, with one exception: I jack the rear up as well & put the car on 4 jack stands so it's level and all of the oil gets out.

Oh yeah. I saw this awhile back. This is something all of us are trying to avoid. For those of you guys have just lifted the front end via ramp, Jack's or whatever, how much oil comes out since the vehicle is at an inclination at this point?

The drain hole is actually facing the back end of the oil pan, so lifting the front slightly is okay. I usually get around 9-9.5L out per drain.

LOL ouch, but why would you not visually confirm that you're on the jack point?

Yep...I'd say the ramp might even help a bit in that regard.

Though we're probably splitting hairs.
