Default 2008 Lowering springs question

So I’m shopping for a ISF but I’ve never actually driven in one. My budget limits me to earlier models before the suspension refresh. Unfortunately, there are no cars local to me that I can test drive (I’m in Macon Georgia). Anyways, if I buy a 2008 and the suspension is too rough for me (I don’t think that it would be I’m currently driving a car on powertrix coilovers with Swift springs), if I only add Swift or Tein lowering springs will that improve the ride quality? Or would my best be to just buy the updated suspension and add it to my 2008? Thanks!

Test drive for an extended period of time and decide yourself. I had springs and 30 sidewall tires 20" on my G37 and thought the ISF couldn't be that bad. Quick test drive of my 08 had me in love but 100 miles later I knew I had to upgrade to coilovers to soften it enough to keep the car. Of course your mileage may vary with your local roads/commute. I can't imagine any springs would make it softer though, Your choice would be to upgrade to a better spring/shock like the 11+ for the cheapest but quality setup or to coilovers. BC+swift spring coils at 16/12 rates are highly recommended at about $1200. HKS coilovers are also great at $1900-2200. KW3 and ohlins/penske are top of the line but $2500-3500.

Welcome!

Thanks for the great info! What suspension setup did you end up going with? How many miles were on your stock
setup?

Whatever you buy, figure it will at most an 11 year old car that will probably need new shocks and springs anyways....

My 08 had 29k in 2016 when I removed the suspension. I went with BC+swift springs 14/10 because I wanted full soft. It was great but going lower I had too much travel and after 60k hard miles they were clunking in the front. My new setup is the HKS 16/10 and they ride better though not sure if they were worth the extra cost over bc. I think BC 16/12's would be the best for the price/wallet.
