You can get all that stuff for less than 8 grand. Some of our members are pessimistic. You can buy a whole new low mileage seat for 500 shipped, some even cheaper on eBay. Like you said, sunroof assembly 450 max. Take it apart and rebuild much cheaper. Head units brand new from Lexus I think are around 2500... but used are a fraction of that. Install and have the dealer program it in. You also need spark plugs and a new mirror. Buy OEM plugs from dealer, less than 200. Even if you buy a new head unit, your around 4000 total. A mirror on eBay will not be expensive. You can come out way ahead of 20 grand. Don’t let these guys tear you down when they should be happy for you.

Oh absolutely! I do greatly appreciate the positivity lol I'm brand new to the Lexus world so I appreciate any and all feedback and opinions. I did some research and don't think I'll come even close to 8k, but I do appreciate even the pessimistic opinions because I know it's not all fun and games when buying a project. Overall I'm over the moon with the car and can't wait to start working on it!

He had it for a day before selling it to me, does that all the time. Had 4 supras in the past 2 years and currently has an R32 that he put up for sale 4 days after buying it (still for sale if anyone is interested). He wanted to sell the isf because he suddenly felt the need to get another Supra, go figure.

I joined the Lexus community less than 2 years ago and quickly became brand loyal. These cars are built very well. You have a great car, enjoy!

All 10 year old cars have issues. I doubt you’ll have any problems fixing this stuff yourself given you bought a problem car in the first place. I’m in the same boat. I basically don’t trust any mechanic anymore. Too many just want to replace parts and do oil changes. A 10 year old car is just a liability to them. So getting a cheap car with issues just gives me a chance to get to know mine in prep for the next issue a 10 year old car will have.

These have known issues, but other than that problems are few and far between. Let’s go race.

I bought my IS350 at 9 years old with no issues. She is going on 11 years now. Only oil changes and recalls (dash, doors panels, gas filler neck). Frankly, it didn’t need any of the recalls really. Interior was decent shape except a crack in the dash. But I won’t turn down a free interior .
