My car can roadhold better than a 11+ with my mods, cost me about 2 grand to do it. LSD is really not needed on a public road, unless you are drifting at every corner. Obviously on a track you would really feel it but I tell you, the 08 needed better shocks, sway bar and wider tires to get handling to be on par with the 2011+.

Again, this is a car only in the high teens, that is a lot of value. My car is from canada, is 10 years old now, no rust. I drive it in winter. If you checked it out well and see no rust why not buy it?

Well, I was asking if this was a fair price. I don't need to steal it, but I don't want to get into something and end up with a bunch of regret because I over paid.

It seems like the answer to that question depends on a person's philosophy on cars. I'm fairly capable as a mechanic, and I'm willing to gamble a bit or I wouldn't even consider an ISF a good value. i.e. I think an M3 might be an option too, but the chance of mechanical problems seems more likely and more costly. There's little chance i want to sell it and more likely that I would want to keep it for a long time.... maybe in that case it's worth getting a nicer example (hoping some day it might appreciate [appreciation doesn't seem in the cards to be honest]).

I think the other reason for the thread is a sort of reflective exercise. Thank you for that.

based on what data? Do you have a stock 11+ that you also drive, or is this just an assumption based on a time that you drove with an 11+, or is it just based on your approval of your own mods? Physics dictates You spin one wheel in hard turns under hard acceleration and LSD doesn’t. That’s not an opinion. The real fun in LSD is spinning both tires on purpose in turns, which you can’t do. I do it regularly on street. Worth every penny.

i think an 08-09 is a great car. But a multiple wreck one is not. To each their own. In the end, there is a reason the newer models cost significantly more. I don’t really care as much about interior upgrades, but the LSD and suspension made it worth it.

My issue with this car is the poor repairs. I have owned cars that were in previous wrecks. You begin to notice issues you didn’t see at first. It needs thoroughly cleaned and looked at in bright natural light, you could easily find many wreck related issues. Very carefully inspect it before purchase. The fact that the trunk doesn’t line up right is a clear indicator of poor workmanship. Just because the body / frame looks straight doesn’t mean that it is. Also, our cars are coated with corrosive inhibiting materials. The new panels probably weren’t, and the welds to put them in definitely aren’t. That’s why replaced quarters rust much easier.

If if anyone buys it, congrats. It’s hard to find an F in the teens. Personally, I’d buy a higher mileage non wrecked F in the teens. Miles on these cars don’t scare me, but bodywork does.

good luck either way. LSD or not, it’s one of the best cars made IMO.

I think the guy above me must be in a cheaper F market. These car with 100k miles are still mid to lows 20s. 17.5 is a great deal. And yes, Ive driven a 2010 LSD is not noticeable on the streets. But then again im not roasting tires doing donuts. No track comparison tho

No more procrastination. I bought it. If someone can show me how to attach a pic from an iPhone I’ll post one. Otherwise, it’ll be Monday before I can show proof of life.

Thanks to to everyone for all the help.
Matt

Thanks. I think your advice is still valid, though I ignored it. I just couldn’t resist. Here’s an example. The rear defroster didn’t work... was that from the wreck??? I won’t know till I have time to look at it. Why was the humidity back there? It didn’t smell or feel wet... I’m sure there are more mysteries. The plan is to bring it back to its former glory.

The community inspires confidence. Hopefully my journey will help others too.

Excellent! I see this car as a engine and trans car with some handling thrown in. If those two pieces work as engineered the rest is cheap to fix. My low mileage F also had some nav screen issues if I paid as much as you did, I wouldnt be mad. Lol

If you guys get snow over there, its possible to drive it with summer tires, just press snow mode. I daily mine 365.
