Default DRL on with headlights

I had the dealer turn off the DRL and that has been great. Tonight I replaced the battery and now my DRL are on with the headlights, but not when they are off. Not sure what is going on, but wanted to see if anyone else has had that issue.

Thanks

Changing the battery won't impact DRL settings. I would have posted about this a long time ago if it happened to me. Not sure what you are experiencing, but I've had DRL turned off for almost 10 years and been through 3 batteries with no changes.

He must have a car with headlights that turn the high beams on low (DRL), and he just noticed that when his headlights are on the high beams are still turning on giving that DRL look.

Its normal. Mine does it. I turned off my DRL as well...but they still turn on when you use your headlights.

I know mine used to not be on with the headlights on. Not sure what is going on. I had the dealer disable them probably 5 years ago. They are definitely only on when the headlights are on. Is there a setting in the car I am missing? Can the dealer program them to only be on when the headlights are on. Just kinda confused and I noticed it right after I changed the battery out. Could just be a coincidence.

Thanks

I have the DRLs enabled, they have been enabled since my F was new, 10 years ago. The DRLs do no light when my low beams are selected, whether with the driving lights on or off. Since they are the high beams, they do light up with a higher intensity when the high beams are chosen. Again, the DRLs only light up when the headlights are off.

Maybe there are multiple stages/options for DRL. Once I get my car back at work and start doing some maintenance, I will check the DRL options in the Techstream settings. I know mine do not turn on during regular driving with the headlights off.

I have turned another club Lexus members DRL off when he came into the shop a few years ago. Its been awhile but now I want to recheck the options listed in the TechStream software.

Thanks that would be great . I know at one time they were not on with the headlights and it hasn't been back to the dealer since. That is what is puzzling to me.

There aren't multiple options for the DRLs in Techstream on the '08s for sure. I checked mine. The point is, with the low beams on, the high beams should not be lit unless high beam is selected. The half light you are seeing shouldn't be happening. To be most accurate, turn the lights off in the day time and see if the high beams come on half lit. That means the DRL is set to ON for sure.

On my car:

Lights off - all lights off no matter what
Parking lights - wedge LED bulbs I bought turn on. Nothing else in the headlights.
On - HIDs and parking light only - no high beam at any intensity
Auto - HIDs and parking light only - no high beam at any intensity

Pulling or pushing on the high beam turns on the halogen bulb AND the HID cutoff raises when the light switch is ON or AUTO.

The only way my lights look like the picture above mine is when the high beam switch is either pushed or pulled.

So lobux had me second guessing whether my DRL was completely off. I started working on my car today and the first thing I did was plug in the techstream and looked at the DRL settings...this is what I found:

Not to sure what else to say. During normal day/night driving...DRL does not come on. Turn the lights to the on position and you get what I posted in the picture above. Hope this helps.

I think I see what is going on. Your DRLs are off, but the color of your parking bulb makes it look like they're on. When I looked at your picture again, it's pretty clear that the lit bulb is not the high beam at half power, it's the parking bulb. I replaced mine with LEDs and I am pretty sure Lou did the same from looking at his.

Still not sure what is happening with krue92 though.
