Default Question on recently purchased ISF

Hello all,

After spending over 6 month waiting for the right ISF, I finally got lucky and purchased my ideal car.
2012 ISF Mercury Metallic
53000km (33000miles) with no accident on file
for $37500 CAD ($29000 USD) before tax.

Been enjoying the car as my daily for a week now and definitely do not regret paying for the extra fuel bill for the V8. The start of the engine every morning makes it all worth while

However, I did noticed a few small things that hopefully the more experienced ISF owner on the forum can help me troubleshoot.
1. At full lock, I can hear a relatively loud click. It happens on both left and right lock.
2. Some time after 80-90% throttle, I do smell a slight burning smell for 1-2 seconds. Does not happen all the time, but I say happens, 50% of the time. I checked the coolant level for the past week, no changes at all.
3. This last one I am pretty sure is because of worn front tire but still good to get some opinion. If I brake a little harder (not slamming on the brakes but enough that you do lean forward), the steering wheel do turn slightly to the left; and sometime ABS kicks in. The previously owner probably only bought two new tires for the rear and kept the front the same. I can clearly see more wear on the two front tires.

Hopefully you guys can help

1. Normal - See this thread:

2. Not normal? No Idea.

3. Check alignment, pad wear, front tire wear.

Get front tyres and go from there can make all the difference.

Thanks for the link. Seems like it may not be a big issue and I can probably hold it off till a little later.

3. The rotors have been turned and were not randomized after the lathe. Replace the rotors, they're junk now. AMHIK.

Wow. This is definitely a big issue. The last owner did change the pad recently and probably turned the rotors at the same time.
Thanks for the information.

Is it advisable to turn our rotors? They are slotted after all...

2. What kind of burning smell? You said you check coolant, is it definitely coolant you smell? Do you see any smoke from engine or exhaust?

3. Has been answered, but yeah replace rotors up front and check your pads.

No, there are many threads concerning this subject. Turning the rotors (resurfacing) removes material, nothing else.

To be honest, I don't know. all I know is it is not burning plastic smell.
No, I do not see smoke from engine. Exhaust I never check cause the smell always happens when I am driving.
I use the car for daily commute (25 minutes per trip; half highway half stop-and-go)

Yeah, I seen all the post about turning/ resurfacing the rotors too. I personally will not be doing it; but seems like the previous owner already done so.
just today I think it might be better if I change it earlier than later. At higher speed (100~130km/hr) with long distance brake, I can feel the car pulling to the left and I do have to adjust the steering input (maybe ~5 degree) to keep on a straight line.

I would not want to be in a situation where I had to do emergency braking and still need to think about whether the car will behave.

I personally just change out the rotors when the pads are basically done...8 out of 10 times, the rotors are already beyond reusable conditions by that time, anyway.

This might sounds weird but I think I need to try smelling some rotten egg and compare to what I am smelling in the car.
