Lexus is reportedly working on a hi-po IS that could conjure up memories of one of our favorite cars ever.

After a brief drive in an LS500 I actually thought it would be cool to see the new twin turbo six in the IS and posted some thoughts on that option the other day (thread below). With the right tune, well sorted transmission settings, and thoughtful planning to keep the weight down, I think this would be a great successor to the original IS-F. Alfa Romeo's Giulia proves that a twin turbo six can deliver the goods in terms of performance and driving satisfaction (responsiveness and sound).
However, I would be said to see another performance model forgoing the 2UR or an updated version of the Lexus V8 (whether in its current naturally aspirated form, or in a forced induction version). There is some more information on engine options across the brand in the thread below.

I would love this. Keep in mind we will never be able to tune the transmission and it’ll take 10 years to tune the engine, so it’s not really comparable to the tuneable turbo cars. That’s just how Lexus rolls.
I had wished they would use the V8 with the new 10 speed, but that’s an old formula. Everyone is going to boost. I rode in my buddies 16 M3, and there is no comparison in terms of acceleration when you get all that torque so low in the power band. Boosted cars just feel faster dynamically due to how the power band works.

Exactly, so who gives a **** about a 400hp basic IS. Great, decent power in a mediocre chassis. Meh
And as stated above the Guilia QF is a home run cause it’s a track prepped 500hp beast. The regular Guilia, meh.

Disappointing, as this seems like a nail in the coffin regarding the possibility of a new ISF. Should the IS400 actually hit production I guess this is better than nothing new for the IS segment.

Well at least our cars will continue to appreciate. Once a new ISF comes out, value will drop.
