Default Lesson learned...never hesitate to buy new tires

Sooooo I feel like a dumb*ss. My tires tread measured at around 3/32nds a few months ago and thought I had a month left on my tires before I replace them (MPSS). I'm driving home yesterday at 75mph on the freeway and I hear a "thump-thump-thump" sound on my rear passenger side. I think "Oh great, I blew out the tire". Come to find out my front driver side AND rear passenger side were shredded right at the ridge of the sidewalls. I "limped" my way to a tire shop who has ordered me (4) MIchelin Pilot 4s for $1300 OTD with alignment.

I feel really lucky nothing serious happened. I endangered my life and others when what I should have done was just get them replaced. It's just this kind of thing where $1300 is not worth your life and others. Hope everyone follows suit.

Glad you're OK and nothing serious happened! The things I absolutely won't cut corners on, for any car, are brakes and wheels/tires. Too many things could go wrong if anything messes up on those.

That should never happen in the rear. Factory toe settings are pretty conservative. It really looks like something sliced the tire, not like any wear pattern I have seen without something external gouging the rubber.

I did feel like I ran over something when it happened. Nothing huge, it felt like something small like an empty soda can. I didn’t think anything of it until I started hearing the noise in the back. I pulled over at a gas station and found that!

You got four PS4S w/ install+alignment for $1,300 OTD? Are you in Socal/LA? That's about $100 less than the best price I found.

Yup. Fantasy Motorsports in Thousand Oaks. Ask for Noah or Steve.
