Default Dyno tune - Influences

Hi all,

I searched but couldnt find any reference to it so hoping someone could advise.

I recently had my ISF redyno tuned after installing PPE's and a Takeda intake. I forgot to turn off the A/C prior and when i got my car back, it still had the A/C on so in short, would leaving the A/C on during a dyno tune influence the outcome? If so id assume it would be minor but still curious to know.

I recall reading somewhere that even with WOT out on the road/track etc, that ECU knows to turn off/cut out the A/C above a certain RPM or something along those lines???

Also anyone know of a formula to working out KW at wheels to flywheel or HP etc. Googled this with mixed results about how to work this out, thanks.

Why would the shop dynoing not have the common sense to turn off the AC?

The best use of a dyno: tells you whether what you/they did helped, and (approximately) how much.
Comparison with any car on a different dyno: not so much.
And that's just the mechanical factors. There are environmental factors as well - it's pretty difficult to accurately simulate road speed air movement on a dyno. I've also never seen anyone driving down the street with the hood up. Bolded for truth.

Thanks for the responses guys. Agreed, i wouldnt even try to compare to different dyno's as we all know they are very different, some more happy than others.

Ive only been and tuned on the same dyno so its atleast limiting the potential influencing factors that could make a difference such as the ones you have mentioned.

It was more around whether A/C on the dyno could make an impact which the Sikky video confirmed for me but as you have said, it did help me gauge the effectiveness of the PPE's and Takeda intake which i wanted to know.

It drives great so im happy :-)

Hey mate, how you been?

Yeah i got before and afters.

272kw @ wheels with Xforce catback, primary cats widened and K&N insert with HPS and tune

Now 292kw @ wheels with PPE, Takeda, catless but removal of Primary cats flange mod and tune. Also ran the new tune with aircon on lol so perhaps it would of got 295-300 had i turned it off prior.

Ps. Bit more bottom, similar mid but biggest gains top end

Ps That primary cat flange mod netted me about 12kw @ wheels so pending how you look at it, it was a gain of about 20 or 30kw

Wow good to read I reckon on a good cool day 300 rwkw = 402 hp who fitted the PPEs up. I have exactly the same mods, Xforce catback, primary cats widened and K&N insert with HPS and tune 270 rwkw cheers.
