2012 IS-F Differential Fluid
Hey Guys,
I might be picking up a 2012 ISF shortly and would like to change all the fluids on the car. Has anyone tried this stuff with it being LSD. I did some research and some say the ISF LSD needs friction modifiers that this fluid doesn't have. I would just like to know if anyone ever tried this fluid and what the results were.
Thanks!

No, that would be a mistake. No friction modifiers are needed for a Torsen diff. If you have a clutch type LSD you need the modifiers. The factory spool does not need this at all.

Is this in the factory service manual somewhere? Because many GM and Ford cars use torsen lsds and they all take the lsd additive. Running without the additive may be ok if the oil has some in it but i've always added a few oz to mine and never had an issue.

What is an issue? You could run motor oil in your diff for a long time and "never have an issue" until you pull it apart and see the gears that should last 500k miles aren't going to make it to 100k miles.
Factory manual says 75w-90 GL5 gear oil. No additives. Additives in a Torsen are not necessary. Already played that game and got the t-shirt plus a lot of laughs from people who knew what gears need. The additives are purely for tuning a clutch type diff to minimize chatter. Nothing else.

Also OP, I'm using the exact same fluid.

I've run Red Line 75w-85 GL-5 in my Supra's Torsen for 25 years. Pretty sure you'll be fine with that.
