Default Anyone running non coated headers without heat shield?

Installed PPE headers not too long ago and my mechanic said i would have to lose the heat shields since they wouldn't work with the PPEs. Only concern is the under hood temps and longevity of parts as stated on other threads. Was just wondering if there were any other members who have been running a similar setup for sometime now without issues of failing starters, sensors, etc. Also, was interested if anyone had input on perhaps a DIY heat shield. Thanks!
