Hello CL members I am in the market for Lexus ISF but can't find any decent or fair deals on my budget (30K). Most ISF on Craigslist in Los Angeles area is just full of liar saying their cars are in good condition never been abuse but clearly show its been in an accident or some type of damage once again its craigslist. If you're in Los Aneles area searching for one be careful and get it check out head to toe. With no luck finding one I was thinking about buying salvage ISF and using it for track/canyons without breaking the bank. This guy offers me 16k or lower for his salvage title ISF https://ventura.craigslist.org/cto/d...395180994.html let me know what you guys think or had anyone seen this car in person.
I would love to be part of Lexus ISF community my previous cars are camry, sc300, is300, ls400, mr2 turbo, frs supercharged, and 4runner. Yes I am a Toyota/Lexus loyalists lol.

It's ultimately up to you. It might be harder to resell because people are afraid of it. If you don't plan on selling anytime soon then just make sure the damage wasn't horrible and that it was fixed properly with oem parts. Try to get pics of the damage before repairs..put it up on a lift and inspect it very well. The one you showed I don't like the non painted skirts and the non carbon interior pieces, but I guess if the price is low enough. Good luck

With a $30k budget, it shouldn't be to hard to find a clean, well sorted out, 08-10 ISF. If you want a 2011 or newer, you may have a harder time with that.

Would take a high mile one before I'd trust/want a salvage title. Can find higher mile ones with clean title for just a bit more than that salvage you posted and in better condition. Also just noticed it doesn't even have the ISF console/interior pieces. It's been replaced with 250/350 wood grain.

$30k can get you a perfectly clean, accident free 08-10. Maybe even a 2011 if you don't mind higher miles. Pass on the salvage

Get the VIN and see if you can see the salvage yard pics to determine exactly what happened to total the car. It might be nothing. It might be really ugly. The price is sweet, but the deal isn't necessarily unless the rebuild was done well. The interior is definitely NOT well done unless you like IS250/350 wood over the IS F texalium.

If you are comfortable inspecting the car yourself, be sure you put it up in the air to see underneath. If you really only want this for a track/canyon toy, it might be a steal.

A few days ago this below was blkghst advice to someone else looking at a clean one owner blue 2008.... Seems to be a different tune on this thread....

$30k can buy you a 2008. In the same way $100k can buy you a 2008. My statement in this thread was about what a certain amount of money can buy. A stock 2008 with over 70k miles is not worth $30k. Mid 20s is more fair. A 2008 with tons of expensive mods like the car in the link above, is

I'm not selling anything, nor am i trying to convince you, just trying to make sure new or future ISF buyers are realistic, and properly informed. Like i have said many times, a lot of people on this forum give bad advice, and set unrealistic expectations. Only to contradict themselves not 4 days later in a different thread. I have no problem with people giving advice that don't own an ISF, so long as they know what they're talking about, just don't be the one giving out wrong advice, if you're also one with unrealistic expectations. Makes you look silly.

I have nothing for sale, unless the right amount of money came along, which I made clear wouldn't be cheap, or a bargain. Why would I sell my ISF (which isn't on the market for sale) for a "good deal" for someone else?

Anyone with even a scrap of knowledge of rare hard to come by cars knows a modded out car will never be worth the same as one that is stock, and unmolested. Thats like 101 stuff, never pay a premium for a modified or car. No one does that, or shouldn't. Just look at a Barrett Jackson or other classic car auctions. Its always the stock original cars bringing the big $$, not the rebuilt hot rod.

You should have definitely started that thread, would be a fun read, you should also track down one of those clean 2008s for $22-23k, or 2011s with 70k miles on it for $27 grand, or start one where people post their bill of sale to prove it, you first.... #stillwatiing #ihearbackpedaling #liarsgivebadadvice

Several months ago I went to see a 2008 for sale for $20k with 100k miles. It sold quick. I didnt get it because I was on the fence about 08-10 or 11+. Clean title, very good condition. Not surprised it was sold in less than a week

And yes, you CAN find clean 2011's in the high $20s. My car is proof of that. Im actually not going to bother proving what I paid, because it really is amusing to see you get all worked up because someone disagrees with you. lol. And frankly, I just dont have to. I'll continue to give my advice and continue to see others disagree as well as agree and you can continue thinking Im a liar. Only thing that matters is that there's one in my garage, and I didnt overpay Have fun talking to yourself from this point on. lol
