Default For those who installed LSD, can you look at this Pic?

I have a deal on what is said to be and 2016 RC-350 F-Sport and I find it odd that the sellers picture shows a cross shaft through the LSD like that of a shaft securing the spider gears in a open diff. Having never seen how toyota implemented this, I could be mistaken as there is one model that has this shaft.
https://www.jtekt.co.jp/e/products/lsd.html
Scroll down for cross section showing Twin Differential.

Can someone tell me if the LSD Diff in these cars has this shaft so I don't buy a boat anchor!

Thanks! And ya, time is important!

The donor is a 2016 RC-350 F-Sport.
I have the VIN and it says nothing about LSD when I look it up.

I'm guessing that you want this differential for your RC-350. I think it will fit an F series V8 car, but may be a different casting. Not sure though.
When purchasing any limited slip differential it is customary to view the parts by removing the inspection cover. No big deal to re-install the cover. At least then you will know. If it is an LSD it could be either a Torsen which is common and good or a clutch type (maybe an OS Giken LSD) which could be very good.

Bottom line, pull the cover.

Thanks but its a fleebay item.
Mine is an 2013 IS350. So the swap is a bit more involved.

The question remains, with the axles out, does toyota LSD have that cross shaft or No?
I found a 93 MR2 does have this shaft and its LSD. In that case, its in a transaxle. Not exactly apples to apples...

We are going to be offering some Cusco limited slip diffs very shortly. They will be available pre-built with core charge. We are just finishing up some testing prior to putting it up for sale.

Looks like an open differential to me. Torsen T2 LSD's typically have a circular view through the axle hole.

There goes my plan to save money... I was actually planning to reach out to you guys and ask if you could do exactly that. All my IS350 needs is a tranny tune and LSD lol. Can we send our OEM units as a core refund? Not sure if I'm wording this right.

Two thirds of those labels are not decodable by us anyways but perhaps its just another clue. Anyways, that shaft through the carrier is a show stopper as best I can tell.

So, of the few who have installed an OEM LSD no one recalls if it has a visble shaft as seen through axle entry???

Unit is up for grabs as the seller will not take the cover off to verify its identity. So much for the needle in the haystack find....

I believe when I installed a lsd into a non lsd isf. The non lsd diff had the pin visible from the side. I have pics on my old phone. The label had "58j"

Thanks! That is exactly what I would expect on a non-lsd.
How about the OEM LSD? Shaft or no shaft?

I would go with Jeff's opinion. He's the forum's parts specialist.

The build sticker on the car has a code you can easily decipher to determine everything you need to know about the differential.

PM me the VIN and I can look it up on TIS to determine this as well.

At the moment, we have ISF diff cores, but we don't have any IS350 diff cores.

We will soon test this diff on our Supercharged IS350 and purchase is350 cores. I can tell you that our 2014 IS350 FSport diff is definitely an open diff, without even looking at it... as with the SC the lack of traction and wheels spinning is ridiculous.

So your intent here is to sell a bolt in solution with a housing having the proper ratio for the 350???

That said, what type of LSD technology are you planning to ship? Will you sell the ring carrier by itself for those are willing to setup their own gear set? And ballpark figure, approx what cost??

There is a huge application range as the open diff in the 350 is used in some 30+ different applications from 2005 to 2018 if you expand to world markets.

I've likely setup 50+ diff's over the years and only had one set make noise and that was an aftermarket gear set in a ford 9". My old fastback Torino had 3.75:1 with a ford Trak-loc (clutch pack), 4 spider gears 31spline axle and like every 3 years I had to put clutches in the thing so I am partial to the Torsen unit although I've never driven a car that had one.

Please keep us posted on the various kit options and pricing in both the 2IS and 3IS forums!
Thanks

Edit:
Oppsee..... Answer is here in this thread... Still, how about the unit by itself$$$?
