How much would i be expecting to pay for one? Im not going to a dealership haha fuuck that.

After seeing so many new threads of potential owners wanting to get into a used IS F, I can see the need for a sticky thread for people to read up on regarding vehicle changes and upgrades between each year.
The only advice I can give you is to not settle for a color combo that you may not want. UltraSonic Blue Mica is a fantastic color choice and if you're dead set on that color, stick with it. The only downside is that you might have to shop around, even out of state to get one with the condition and mileage you're comfortable with. You're more likely to find a USB IS F in the 2008-2009 years. Less were produced after 2010, but in my opinion the refinement and the majority of enhancements from the factory culminated in 2012, and even those are both hard to find and somewhat high in price currently. It'll be harder to find non-dealerships to sell an IS F, but who knows- maybe they don't know what the true value of the car is and just want to try and make a deal. But from friends who just got into an IS F, they went with the dealer for the CPO warranty, so it gives them added peace of mind for a used performance vehicle in knowing that they will be covered if something becomes an issue later on.
You're not alone in saying the IS F is a dream car for some. I've owned mine since 2008, and it's been nothing short of a thrill each and every time I start her up. In the end, it just comes down to your budget and scouring various sites for inventory. Wishing you the best of luck in searching for your F!

Everytime I've started to think about a new car I've always gone to the forums and started poking around extensively to see what I could find. It's more gratifying that way, to do your own research, to learn about the car, and feel accomplished.
Maybe it's a millenial thing or something where people just make a decision to buy a given car based on no knowledge and then want instant gratification of other people doing their research for them?? How does one even know they really want an ISF without knowing anything about the car??
OP: this is one of the best forums I've ever been on. It's a great resource. Search around and enjoy the learning process - if you buy a car on someone else's advice, you'll inevitably be back on the site learning more about the car and then you might find you bought the wrong year at the wrong price etc bc you depended on someone else's opinion.
Just spitballing here

Hey Op,
In answer to your question on what's the best model for you, we need to know a bit more.
What would the IS F be for you? Daily driver, fun weekend car, what would you be looking to do with it in terms of modifications? These aren't cheap cars by any means. Maintenance and upkeep are essential, and if you service them with Lexus main dealerships, that's not cheap either!
Running costs are a lot more cost efficient than a lot of other high performance saloons however.
As others have already mentioned, there were numerous changes to the IS F over the different years of production. Most of these could in theory be replicated by buying/installing aftermarket parts to an early model, but not everyone wants that aggravation.
Some people will want to get one with really low mileage, others will waive that requirement in order to buy a newer version.....
You need to figure this line of thought out before we can really help you, as it's a personal preference.

I asked for a sticky ages ago. Coming from other forums this one if by far the least modderated in a useful way. How hard is it to put a sticky thread. I know people dont search but a sticky might be helpful. Hell I think Tammer made a thread I said to sticky awhile back comparing models ect. Have a freaking ATF DIY sticky thread but not one for useful s*** people actually might do?
