Flocked Dashboard? Couple of questions if I may??
Hey Guys,
Not sure if anyone has attempted this on the IS-F, but I am thinking about picking up a used 2IS dashboard (presumably any dash from a 220d, 250 etc will fit our cars? they look identical), and having it flocked.
Never liked the fact our dashboards are the same as all the other 2IS models when this was meant to be the luxury top end model. You'll notice Lexus themselves changed this with the latest F models (RC-F etc), where they do a nice leather coated finish.
I'm guessing there will be a lot of work removing my existing dashboard, and swapping over everything attached to it, but I'm up for the challenge (swapping out the OEM seats was hardly a cakewalk! Lol).
I can pick up a regular 2IS dashboard pretty cheaply via a breakers here in the UK, so that won't be a problem.
Would welcome any thoughts or comments from you guys. Know this won't be something everyone likes, but I welcome any feedback (good or bad!).
Cheers for now.

I have been toying with the idea of wrapping mine in Alcantara myself since my dash and door panels are melting. To my knowledge and Google search, there was a member on here who wrapped his dash for his 2is. IS250 Dashboard/Door Panel Restoration with Custom Guage Pod is the name of the thread. I am not sure if he still has the car or if the wrap has held up. This particular guy didn't use real Alcantara and used black instead of a grey like I want to do so it should match up to the plastic parts better.
good luck and keep us updated!

Lol, as I said, knew this would split opinions.
A properly flocked dash looks really nice though in my opinion. Seen a few over the years, some were terrible, others looked great. Like most things, you get what you pay for!
May get a few other pieces done at some point. Main thing is that big ugly slab of cheap, scratchable plastic called the dash! Lol.
It's just an idea at the moment, but I appreciate people's opinions.

Not only does it actually look nice, it would completely eliminate any dash glare. Not a big problem in the F in my opinion but a black flocked dash would glare 0%. I'd just be worried about cleaning it and keeping the fuzz off of it.

Where my car isn't a daily driver, I'm not that worried about the fuzz/cleaning side. Sure, it's not going to be easy, but I have to clean it carefully now to avoid scratching up my Defi gauges etc.
Will keep everyone posted with how I get on.
Cheers guys.

Unfortunately I need to get some minor body damage fixed, and also sort out the clunking I am getting from underneath the car!
Means money for the dash project might be tight for a little while.
Will 100% follow up once I get around to it though.
Cheers.

Hey, been going through some tough times lately, but hopefully over the worst of it now. Did look like I might have to sell up at one point, but thankfully that’s not looking so likely anymore.
Got a couple things left to pay for and then hoping to pick up where I left off and get the spare dash and a few other interior pieces flocked.
I’ll keep you guys posted.
