Default for those of you with engine ticking

took my car in...2010 ISF. There was a ticking noise from my right front tire and it turned out to be a bearing which theyre replacing but i also had them check out the engine ticking...turns out it needs new lifters which would have been a $4,000 job...thankfully i have a full warranty. Just wanted to inform those who have loud ticking to take it in and get those replaced if your under warranty.

I'd be surprised if the 4k job fixes the ticking. Do a search and you will find many threads on the famous ticking issue.

There are no lifters in this engine. This is a shim lash adjustment engine. They are telling you something that makes no sense whatsoever.

He should let them go ahead and do the service then once he picks up the car, look over the printouts very carefully.... if it says anything about " replaced lifters", he should have at them, lol. Tell them you did some homework and found out there are no lifters in this motor....🙄

well for those curious...the ticking is gone. Took 3 weeks for it to be done because parts were on back order and thankfully i had a full extended warranty so i only had to pay my $100 deductible.

here's the invoice

So it seems that the actual problem was the passenger side exhaust manifold. There are several posting here of broken flange welds on these things. Sure hope Lexus wakes up and does a recall on these. I would say that a leaking exhaust manifold is a safety hazard.
