Default Straight Pipes IS-F

Came across this video of a very well breathing IS-F. Is this someone's on here? If so, how "straight piped" are we talking here?

Hey - I'm the guy that filmed it and TheStraightPipes is my channel name. His car is not straight piped, it's a custom 3" exhaust with mufflers.

Here is MY ISF with mufflers deleted:

I plan to remove mufflers only. Love the sound! My only concern is how much of a hit on performance is there due to a loss of back pressure

It's not about back pressure - that's an old wives tale It's all about flow. Removing the muffler's will help flow. The muffler's are a restriction.

Good to know! First time I've ever heard this. Anytime I've removed mufflers on previous platforms, I was always told that I would suffer a slight performance loss due to back pressure. Oh the lies!

I think it depends cause when my buddy had an STI back in the day I remember him swapping exhaust and had to drive open downpipe for a day or so, and the car was noticeably slower low end. But then again maybe that could've been fixed if it was tuned with open downpipe. But it was a temporary thing just for a day so we never got to test that

going from OEM, to Borla, to Borla w/ the resonator cut out, to my current straight pipe set up, the Borla (both versions) felt the quickest. the straight pipes feels like i've lost some low end torque. however, there is also the considerable weight savings. here is a photo. i basically had the shop cut off the piping right before the resonator. from there they fabricated a merge collector, going out into the dual piping. it's loud, raspy w/ lot's of drone but i like it. yes, it's not mandrel bent but i really didn't care. just wanted the sound.

^^ sorry, no audio on my current set up. you will get plenty of backfires on both downshifts and aggressive up shifts.

How much louder is it (than stock) under normal acceleration? And how bad is the drone?
