Opinions on MY differences. (I'm new)

Okay as the title states I'm just looking for opinions on the MY differences. I'm in the market for an ISF (7 months now) but I keep changing my mind on which MY I should start with. It's between a 2010 or 2011. I know all the MY differences but I just want to hear everyone's opinion.

Btw I've been on the forum for just as long as I been doing my research but never had the courage to ask questions until now because it's delaying me purchasing an ISF

2011+ has good upgrades over the 08-10s

Welcome to the forum.
2011 gets my vote. 2012 if you can swing it for the wheels. Good luck!

From this thread: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/is-...reference.html
MY11: Alcantara seats; updated CF (texalium) trim; upgraded suspension; upgraded power steering ecu; updated steering wheel (thicker, silver controls, sport button relocated to wheel); led headlights; new instrument cluster; Lexus-badging delete from the trunk.
Option updates: black/orange leather combo added.

So I'm guessing the Updated headlights, instrument cluster, and suspension are worth the search, rather than buying a 10' and upgrading those things myself ?

If it is between 2010 and 11, the changes are minor at best between these two years. What is your preference when it comes to the instrument cluster layout; one digital spedometer or a tach with the RPMs on one side and the MPH/km/h on the other? Do you want the updated LED headlights? I also believe alcantara material was introduced in 2011.

Stock ride quality was noticeably more compliant beginning in 2011. TORSEN LSD was introduced in MY2010, so both should have the mechanical version, as opposed to the early years with the electronic LSD. Other than these few items, if you're choosing between these two particular years, test drive both. I had a colleague drive both a 2010 and 11 back to back, and while the ride was nearly the same (he preferred the 11), what was a deal breaker for him was how the instrument cluster was laid out. He has a 10 currently with BC Racing coilovers and he's happy he went with it over the revised 2011 one. Personally, I'm in the same group as he, as aside from seeing a digital readout of my speed at all times, it hasn't grown on me at all if I wanted to do it all over again.

Best of luck!

That's a few links to threads with the same question asked repeatedly. It's okay though, you needed to break the ice somehow Congrats and Welcome! The search engine on this site is pretty accurate. That's just 3 of several more threads, I'm sure your questions can be answered. Or you can check this awesome in depth review video from one of our members...

this is my dilemma. I prefer the normal sized tach n speedometer but I also want the other updates the 11' came with.

awesome! I never seen these ones.

Easy choice for any prospective buyers: if you're keeping it stock, buy the newer MY.
If you plan to modify, consolidate your future mods: if upgrading suspension and diff, I wouldn't care to get MY10+.
Also, for some reason the fastest ISF drag times are from early model years. Weird :D

My advise for your situation (IF you plan on keeping it stock), look at 2010s. You'll have your tachometer the way you like. You can always upgrade the LED headlights at any time. TORSEN LSD was first introduced in 2010. The revised suspension really didn't take place until 2012; it is noticeably more compliant than 2008-11 for sure, but in my opinion, it's almost on par as a set of aftermarket coilovers can achieve if you're searching for a luxury cruiser type of a ride feel. And wheels....2012 will be 1/2 inch wider all around, though Lexus kept the tires the same size. Outside of those items, in your situation, I'd widen the search for 2010s, and they should be within reason in comparison to the 2008-09 models.

Best of luck!

Yeah that's my thoughts. If suspension and steering ecu are something I can do aftermarket I'd rather pick up a 10'. As far as the LED headlights I know you can do the conversions. My only other question is what's a reasonable price for a 10' and 11' with roughly 50k-70k mileage. $30k-35k range?

Kojak77 Mar 31, 2017 06:16 AM

Hey!

Not sure where you are in MA, but if you want to check out my 2011 for reference, we could meet up when the weather decides to stop sucking.

Yeah I've been checking Craigslist but it seems they rarely show up. I'm from the Boston area. If you could that would be awesome!
