either way right now we are living in a golden age of horsepower. as CAFE standards really begin to kick in, the naturally aspirated V8 will die. and we wont see 400+ HP cars anymore. there are so many cars out there right now that are seriously fast that are easy to get. so enjoy them wile you can!!

That being said, I'd bet any amount of money you're 100% wrong about 400+hp cars disappearing. Don't be ridiculous. There will always be car guys, and always be a market for fast cars in some way shape or form. Sure, they'll need to be more efficient, but they'll also keep getting faster.

I'm inclined to agree, there will be plenty of high horsepower cars in the future. They will probably employ new technology but I would bet they will run circles around our "fast" cars of today. Case in point I have a muscle car I just pulled out after not driving it for several years. That car was a "serious" street machine in its day but now it feels like a total pig compared to the F. Even my GS400 seems faster. That's what technology and engineering developments will give you. Look at a the Telsa or the NSX with hybrid technology. CAFE may slow horsepower progression marginally but for sure we will continue to see faster, more powerful vehicles.

The ISFs currently have a higher resale value than the E90 M3s year for year.
I am not sure where the 60000 number came from.......
There were only 5800 E90s made for North America. This is much less than the 12000 or so ISFs.
Coupes: 15,799 examples produced from 11/2007 through 06/2013
Convertibles: 8,590 examples produced from 02/2008 through 10/2013
There were 43,779 E46 M3s (coupes & convertibles) made for the US which is actually 13,000 vehicles MORE than the E9x series
Having said that, I have a "rare" e90. 2011 lemans blue (only 5%). Manual, no sun roof, no nav, no power seats, 25k miles. As far as price in the future, who knows, but rarer than the e46

First yr for M3 total sales world wide was 9524 that almost the entire run for the ISF off by roughly 2000 more IS-F for 7yr production run.
Total E90 sales world wide 9760. What interesting is that E90 and ISF have almost identical sales numbers in North America with the ISF having just over 5100.and E90 5086 so regarding which is rarer E90 takes it by hair lol.

And this is on crappy platform that most don't like (the regular 1s), with unreliable N54 engine (not from M division). The car itself is nothing super special except that it's just a great drivers car
