The SS was a decent car, but it only lasted 2 model years I believe. It was Chevy's attempt to bring back the Impala SS and compete with the Charger/300 line, it was poorly executed, poorly named, over priced, and poorly marketed.. Typical Chevy/GM mentality, slap a badge on a vehicle produced overseas (it came from the Aussy Holden Commodore) and build it up to the media for 2 years, then fail on the execution.

there is virtually zero after market for it, while a lot of things from the Camaro SS will work for the motor, exhaust and such are nearly non-existent.

Resale is also garbage because of the short life.. so you can find them at a good price, but selling later will be difficult.

I would suggest for the same pricing find a 2012 or newer Charger SRT with the 392, there is a huge after market, it is rather inexpensive for the basic bolt on mods, and there is a huge enthusiast community for it.

I like the aftermarket options and I think they make great sleepers since they blend in so well lol.

I'd definitely consider an SS if I had to downgrade.

where the SS's Unmodded? what do you have on youre F? was it a bumper win or did you gap MF?. and roll race or digs?
Just like Justin727 experience above, at the time I only had the Borla on the car and put a good 2 car lengths on him before I shut it down around 120 +/- he was stock because he had temp tags on it and was excited to see how it stacked up for the night in Juarez He was a good sport about it after realizing he didn't have a chance after a few pulls from 40-120 and gave a big thumbs up afterwards.

Now that I'm FBO the gap would've been even worse for him. Like I said earlier can you imagine if they put the LT1 in that car with the aftermarket support for that motor currently! Would've made things more interesting.

I still love my F but.......6 speed manuals
Good question. I actually owned both a Chevy SS Manual an ISF at the same time in February of this year. I drove them back to back every day for about a week until i sold the Chevy SS. I decided to keep the ISF because I liked it more for a multitude of reasons, but the SS was still a great car.
Now if Toyota would have produced a Lexus ISF with a 6 speed manual, that would have been hard to beat.

Interesting choice if you down grade and want very old zeta platform. Good for the straight 1/4 mile and there is way more performance upgrades to make it go fast. Procharger for 7k you get 620hp or go with ***** to the walls 1000hp hennessey upgrade. If drag is your thing and having 4 doors is a must and giving up reliability down the road it's not a bad choice for $/hp spent.

for the record a gtr is not as scary to maintain as many think. Having only ever been in a couple of chevy products and having limited experience with them, I would still say downgrade. Chevys commercials are completely asinine, except for this one! Must watch!

I was just trying to bring in a little humor, and you are correct about aftermarket stuff for the most part. There are a few kits like the sbd 650 kit and 700 kit that would cost 1/2 of what the isf supercharger upgrade is and give more power (9-10 second qm range) which is pretty reasonable

ISF was sold 132K new
Great car for the price

Forgettable rental car like mentioned is pretty spot on. American car interiors are pretty terrible, and most of the cars are still just garbage cans on wheels, and in this case they shoved a big motor in it. Can't stand most Dodge, Chrysler, GM products. Even the Z28 as impressive of a performer as it is, absolutely tanked in value just after the first year. Even those impressive lap times couldn't convince people to actually want it.
