Default Dead starter motor

Went out to my car and when I tried to start it I got one big click, I had to have it towed to Lexus. They haven't confirmed its the starter motor yet but they are saying theres a 99% chance it is, and unfortunately its still an engine out service. Anything else I should have replaced while they're in there? Its an 08 with 106k.

Pretty much this. Not sure how they consider it an engine out task but when installing headers you def notice it's a PITA to get to without removing the manifolds and dropping the subframe.

Exhaust manifolds have to come out, they're being replaced.

Not planning on doing headers on this car, unless they happen to be so cracked they won't go back on. Meant any other wear items.

Why don't you want to do headers? Don't like extra power?

Just not sure I want to put more money into a car that I'm not certain ill be keeping much longer. I know it isn't the usual experience at all for F owners but this car has been extremely high maintenance... back at the dealer 2-3x more often that it should be for something or other. Its a fantastic car but for someone going to school and doing flight training I'm way too busy to be running to the closest dealer (100 miles away) every couple months.

Can you describe any symptoms you might had before? I have an 08 as well with 130k. Trying to see if this is imminent.

None at all, started up instantly two hours beforehand.

On on a side note, thinking of going the route of refreshing everything that is a wear item while the engine is already out, radiator/hoses etc. anybody have input on things that are a good idea to replace?

So to replace the starter the engine as to be removed? or is starter motor different than starter?

I'm pretty sure those are the same thing, but i could definitely be wrong. The way the dealer does it, engine has to come out, though they do the same for headers so a good indy shop might be able to do so without. I do remember someone saying it is nearly impossible to physically get the starter out from where it is wedged without the headers coming off at the very least, I don't know much more about the actual procedure.

Drop subframe, pull header, pull starter, install in reverse order. I'm not sure why they want to pull the motor and drain fluids and all that. It's overkill.

So they can bill me more. And I was thinking about trading my F in just last week to avoid this exact issue mindcrime. It heard me and is taking its revenge.
