Went from a C63 to IS F??
A little back story. Back in 2012, I used to own a 335i BMW. It was a quick car but I wanted something a little more exclusive. So I began my search of the BMW M3 but it was tough to find a six speed manual sedan with options I wanted. Then local dealer had a 2008 IS F. It wasn't what I was looking for but the salesman took me for a ride in the car and I was blown away by the performance I had no idea the IS F was capable. Eventually I sold the 335 and just focused on my car search trying to find the right IS F. I test drove almost every color. IS F from 2008-2010 model. I narrrowed down that I wanted a 2010 for the LSD and updated hardware for Nav. Then I drove a C63 and it was a tough choice between the two. I was confused and one day I wanted a C63 and next I wanted an IS F. But my friends convinced me to get the C63 because the IS F Is viewed as not as same caliber as the C63, plus that awesome exhaust note it just amazing. In summer of 2014 I picked up a used 2010 C63 loaded with everything minus P31 package but I eventually added Eurocharged tune so it wasn't a big deal.
The car was a monster. It would light up the tires even from a 40mph roll. Like literally the traction control light flashed constantly in that car. But I what became a weekend toy I started driving it more and little things I hated about it.
The poor gas mileage. It doesn't really stand out. Most people don't even know what the car is even if they do it's not really eye catcher. Then I just got tired of looking at plain as vanilla interior, I just wanted something nicer. But my biggest complaint is the paddle shifters, yes the car can shift 000.2 tenths seconds faster in manual mode but the delay from when you pull the paddle and actually shifts engaged usually results in me banging off the rev limiter. This year I found myself looking at IS Fs online and occasionally test driving them.
So I finally bit the bullet and purchased a 2012 Nebula Grey Pearl IS F. I traded the C63 and honestly I don't miss the car as much as I would think. The IS F actually sounds nicer and smoother especially from a cold start. And this may come as a shock but the ISF honestly is a bit quicker too. I couldn't believe it but I have some videos to prove the IS F is just as quick from 0-100. Also during my search I test drove various IS Fs and went back on the same road with my C63 and couldn't tell a difference except IS F just puts its power down better. I've only had the car a month but I get a ton thumbs up and nice car often when I drive it which is surprising since the 2nd gen IS has been out for 10 years. Oh and 28mpg is much better than the best 20 I've ever achieved with the C63 but typical average is 16 with C63 and 23 with IS F. I have respect for the C63 and it's monster 6.2 motor but honestly I feel the IS F feels a little more unique and underrated. I just feel it doesn't get the credit it deserves.

Congrats on the F and welcome to the family! But 28 MPG must be majority highway driving and maybe cruise control. Members who daily their cars with a mix of city and highway average about 17-21 MPG. I really appreciate the older C63s, and while they do have their mechanical and electrical issues, they are flat out monsters even before any aftermarket support. Here is CA, I definitely see more C63s and M3s, so it's nice to enjoy an IS F spotting from time to time.
Enjoy your F!

Welcome to the family! I do agree with what was said, most people get around 18mpg when doing a mix of city/highway driving. As for looks/attention, I don't think the ISF gets gets a ton of it. Most people have no idea what the car is and just think its an ISx50. Occasionally you will get someone who knows what the car is and thats always fun.

Nice right up and comparison!
The ISF comes alive even more so (both looks and performance) the more you mod it! People love mine whenever I take it out as well. To 'most' people it's quite clear it's something a bit different than an x50. But of course occasionally I'll still get the question "is this the 250 or 350 F sport?!?". Very annoying but if people don't know, they don't know.

Welcome to the ISF family! Mine's a 2012 as well. I love it and the only other car I've ever had eyes for is the M3- but now that it's no longer NA.. well.... not so much. The exhaust notes at around 4,000 rpms make my heart swoon. A lovely addicting sound!
