I think I will give it a try.
Glad to see the site is updated because it wasn’t there the first time I checked.

I do see it available now! Wish the price wasn’t so high though. I could buy a lot of other car parts with $465! Lol!

For anyone wondering, since the grom person on this forum seems to be conveniently avoiding this question, I received this answer via email:

There will be no upgrade or trade in program or plans for VL1 owners to move to VL2.

Just out of curiosity, is CarPlay officially supported on the VL2? The page has no mention of it.

Was the GPS upgraded from VL1 to VL2 or is it the same? I notice the specs list what GPS is being used for the VL2 but not the VL1.

So, is that to say CarPlay runs in the same capacity as it currently does on VL1?

I’m a bit on the fence regarding an upgrade to a VL2, since VL1 CarPlay is working flawlessly for me currently. I suspect VL2 might make it more responsive during app switching within CarPlay, but it is hard to justify the cost for just that. Providing a side by side video showing boot-time, and CarPlay responsiveness would help me decide.

Also, what is the delay on adding official support for CarPlay?

Do You have that from Grom?
If so, I will sell my unopened VL1..my 3rd one after the no.1 died, returned it to Grom, they did not find any faults and shipped it back with new wirings, still did not work in my 2008 LS600hL, shipped it back again and got a new VL1..and have not installed it, awaiting the promise that the VL1 I have could be updated to VL2 in the near future...
It has not been a pleasure 😔 with all the hiccups I have had with the VL1 and was really hoping that the VL2 would be close to 100% reliable in use...and available for updating on the VL1. Still hoping that Grom will give the VL1 buyers this option 😊
