H&R spacer sizing...lowered and 245/275 PSS tires
 

Hello all, I posted about a month ago re my (now prior) E90 BMW 335i and the possibility of buying an ISF - I was concerned about differences in power delivery, low end torque, etc. Well, I sold the 335 and bought a '11 SGM ISF with ISS DES exhaust - and I couldn't be happier - absolutely love the F. Now I'm planning some future mods. FBO and tune is on the list already. Now on to wheels and tires: I didn't think I'd really like the '11 wheels based on pictures, but in person they are really growing on me, I just don't care for their conservative offsets. I will be replacing the stock tires sizes with a PSS 245/275 setup when the current tires are worn. I will also be installing Swift (or Tein?) coils, but probably only the fronts - it looks like that will bring the front gap down just enough to match the rear. And I'm considering the H&R spacers with longer studs to cure the conservative offsets. I know 15mm is safe, but can I go 20mm with the 245/275 tires and front-only lowering on Swifts/Teins? I've read several threads on here re that topic, but have not found any posts where someone has run 20mm with 245/275 tires and a front-only lowering. Not saying I wouldn't, but I'd prefer not to roll fenders. And I may consider a more narrow brand of 245/275 tire than PSS if that would make it all fit together happily. Any experience with this combo?

Congrats on the purchase of the F. I installed the swift springs only on the front of my car and the drop is very nice. The front and back are now the same height (I believe it's 26 inches from the top of the wheel well to the ground). I can't comment on the spacers though.

With those tires and no fender mods i wouldn't go more than 15mm all around

does anyone have any pictures of this setup? I'm thinking the 245/275 setup spacers and some black lugnuts till I find a good rim deal or setup also.

Do you need longer studs with 15mm spacers?

I believe this is the H&R part # for the 15mm spacers, and it looks like it comes with longer studs - Josh can confirm: H&R 30656014. I may consider looking for longer studs (long enough to accommodate 20mm spacers), then try to find black open-ended lug nuts that would fit the stock wheels. The longer studs and open lugs would allow me to use 20mm or 15mm spacers depending on whether I have the wider tires/lowering coils/rolled fendres yet, etc. Would also allow fine tuning the offsets front to back a little more. Anyone do something similar?

Had only seen negative things about wheel spacers on this forum till now, are they ok to run without any extra wear or issues?

There are 2 types of spacers, and while neither is ideal, the style with extended studs and a slip-on spacer, (vs the bolt on spacers) are more prefered. There are a few threads on here about the bolt-on style cracking, etc. Google the H&R DRS spacers - those are the extended stud/slip-on style. I wouldn't use them on a track car, but for the street...

I had spacers on my E46 M3 for years with no problems at all.

Im running 255/275 , your fine with 245 with 20mm in front but you have to rolled your fender with 15mm in the rear. I have 2008 F.

aren't you rubbing your fender liner going over dips and bumps etc?

In the front it rubs a little bit but it can be fix with heat gun and im lazy to do it. In the rear no rubbing if you shaved and rolled the fender. 15 mm is the max spacer you can put for a 9 inch wide stock. wheel with a 275/35 tire. I suggest get the 30 series tires F/R. Mine is 35
